I came to this bar on a rainy day and it was just peaceful. I ordered a vodka tonic for a decent price and will definitely come back soon to try their food! Kent Ale House is a perfect place for those who are going to a show at Rough Trade or celebrating a soccer win at the park across the street.
This was a great place to get out of the rain in Brooklyn. After the brewery had a huge line, as did bowling, we popped in here to dry off and get a snack. I tried a fantastic Strawberry Kiwi Cider (think: adult capri sun). We also had a basket of fries which were plentiful and delicious.
One great thing about Kent Ale House is how it plays games on the many televison sets they have. My fiance asked that they put on the URI basketball game, and even with a few other games going on, they turned it on on the tv nearest to him. So nice!
I came here on Sunday around 4pm. Pretty crowded, and managed to find a table in the back room. Service was excellent.
The chili dogs were disappointing. What was supposed to be chili was really ground beef with melted cheese on top of the dogs. Fries were good though.
The veggie burger is more like a black bean burger. A little burnt on the outside too.
What you would expect on tap. Really enjoyed the service since our food was a bust.
There is outdoor side seating, a small enclosed patio in thé rear, an expansive front bar and lots of wide, flat screen télévisions for your viewing pleasure. This place earned one star for thé wonderfully, well spaced layout that never really seems cramped. Another star earned for the ample screens that display rugby and fútbol back to back. Another star for thé service which was courteous and efficient even amidst thé Northside festival swarm along with free drinks which led to extra exuberance.
Bathrooms are efficient, food seems solid (athough all I did was sample some in passing), and thé views from this location could really set thé mood if you're in on a quiet evening. I would definitely return to try more of their offerings and to check out anything I missed.
Located directly across from the Bklyn Flea on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. After walking in the hot sun and checking out all the booths we needed a respite and there across Kent on the corner was Kent Ale House. The corner has outdoor seating, which while very tight, was in the shade and made for very nice people watching. The beer was cold and the burger we had was fine. The service was friendly and efficient despite there being alot of people coming and going. Cant speak for anything else on the menu, but would return when visiting Bklyn Flea or Smorgasburg.
Kent is a nice place to grab a late afternoon beer or two, with decent happy hour specials. In my admittedly limited experience with New York bars, I haven't found that many with outstanding beer selections, but Kent has one of the better selections I came across. I didn't order food, but would come back to do that some time.
I can't really tell if Kent Ale House is a really old bar or just one that's made to look that way, but it has a nice, worn look to it. There are also retractable windows and a nice view of the Empire State Building.
Truly feels like an European bar, many accents, extremely relaxed service to the point where my table was left unserved for long periods of time.
The place was fairly empty for a Saturday night, even with a stand up comedy show going on in a spare room to the side. Although the bar was not packed everyone was very happy, there's was not the "lonely sad bar" feeling at all. The lighting/atmosphere and staff still make this place perfect for a more relaxed/catch up with friends night.
Food: the beef sliders were DELICIOUS
Food was alright, I got the grown up grilled cheese (pepper jack, arugula and pulled pork) with fries. It wasn't fabulous but it wasn't bad. Fries were soggy and lacked flavor. The service was super slow and not really friendly. Super lucky for them to be across the street from Brooklyn Flea, however. Looks like if you lived in the neighborhood it'd be the bar to go to for drinks and board games with friends – but I feel like you can get that a lot of places these days. Perhaps today was an off day, but I wouldn't go out of the way to visit again.
