Don't let looks deceive you – this tiny corner restaurant on Jericho is great for inexpensive Indian food. After a friend in the neighborhood praised their curry, I finally decided to check it out for the first time three months ago with my boyfriend, since it's literally two blocks away from his house. I'm not going to lie, there isn't much to see inside besides cheap white tables, uncomfortable chairs, a drink refrigerator, and a counter in front of the kitchen. There isn't even a bathroom; you have to walk through their storage basement in order to find one. But believe me when I say that the food more than compensated for it. Since then, we've become regular customers.
My favorite dishes are their shrimp curry and chicken korma, both of which are very flavorful. I love that they don't discriminate us for not being Indian and still make our food extra spicy. But if I had to recommend anything, get the biryani – any of them. Because they're served in huge portions and come with this fantastic white onion sauce. Eventually, I plan to sample everything on their menu, but unfortunately we tend to come here later in the evening when they've already run out of most of their fresh ingredients for the day. 🙁 I would be heartbroken if they closed, especially since we never see many customers. Please do Bellerose a favor and check it out, you won't be disappointed.
