Kettle & Thread couldn't have come to a better neighborhood. It fits right in with the hustle and bustle of Church Ave.
First of all the owner and employees are all so friendly and nice. What a pleasure being served by such amazing human beings.
I am in love with the fact that they have outdoor space. We all know how difficult it is to find an awesome cafe with outdoor space. The garden has lots of tables and very well maintained with cute potted flowers and plants.
During the week they have a simple sandwich menu with pastries and rolls. On weekends they serve eggs, english breakfasts and other great eats. They're also super nice with change ups to the menu. Today I wanted a grilled cheese with mozarella and ketchup which was not on their menu. Without even batting an eyelash they said sure we'll do it for you!
For some odd reason the panini press was taking its time warming up today. The woman behind the counter came running out with a bag of cookies so we don't go mad starving :p.
I'm really glad Kettle and Thread has opened in this neighborhood. It's sort of/definitely going to be a regular for me.
++
– The environment is like someone's living room
+
– Kid friendly, if you're into that sort of thing
– Owner obviously cares about putting across a good product
– Nice and simple brunch (It was like visiting and aunt for Sunday breakfast)
This place touts being a hobby shop and it is. I easily sat down to knit and spent a relaxing hour here with a freshly toasted buttered baguette and homemade lemonade.
It's also a great place to catch up with a friend. Conversations are easily sparked among the tables and a drawer of board games and books are provided for customers and incite sharing and making friends of strangers.
Service needs work. It's not busy this Saturday afternoon, but the two-person staff was struggling to get the orders out for the three pairs of patrons (me and bf included). However, I will say that despite this, the service does seem to be sincere.
I will be returning as the menu gets extensive, especially when I need to hear some old-school jazz or playful piano instrumentals.
