  1. There isnt much I can say about this place.
Its a grocery store. Compared to the other offerings around me, this is a large store. its well kept. But the produce is sad- like, really sad. And the guy by the door always asks to take my lunch tote… like im gonna steal an orange.
Its most crowded on sunday and saturday midday. I go aroun 6pm and its much more pleasant.
But i still order from fresh direct cuz im lazy.
My dog loves their rotisserie chicken! (but the deli dept doesnt make sandwiches!- wtf)

  2. There are some in my neighborhood that view Key Food as some second tier food store. When I mention that I really enjoy shopping there, their faces seem to morph into a shock. Like if I told them John Wayne Gacy was hosting my next family party. Forest Hills yuppies, what can you do? They shop at The Natural. Excuuuse me.

Key Food Lefferts has a section, once you enter the building that is in essence a clearance area, filled with great deals on mostly canned, non perishables. Preppers take note.

The meat department has unique items which
I just can not find in my area. Smoked turkey necks, pork fat which I use occasionally in soup stocks. Other, more common cuts of well marbelized meats run as low at $3.99 a pound and up. Hence my continuing evening back yard grilling sessions. Season a one and a half pound steak and slap it down over some charcoal on my silo sized smoker. Add some baked potatoes and you have my diet in a nutshell, throughout this bear of a winter.

The fish area is not very big, but if you have patience to prod around and an adventurous cooking spirit, you will be in home chef glory. Even if you totally lay an egg and blow the meal, your not out $18.00 a pound, not even close.

The produce does not have me nor my wallet overly excited, average fruits and vegetables at prices I would think should be cheaper. Head over to Liberty Ave if you can make two trips, its worth it.

There are almost no wait times at the registers, as they rung you up, bag your goods and your off to your car, in a very generious parking area.
