  1. With all the great reviews we decided to take a ride to Keyport to try the awesome little spot. The line stays wrapped around inside. They keep it moving pretty fast . Someone takes the order and your initials  and writes it on a paper bag and you bring it up to register to pay and then wait. The fresh fried seafood is cooked in large batches and. It just keeps coming. The food is tasty and good sized portions. The fried oysters so good especially dipped in hot sauce , tarter or even cocktail sauce . The coleslaw is amazing . The fried combo platter with flounder, scallops, and shrimp was super yummy. The fried founder sandwich was delicious. Now if you want the soup the New England clam chowder is probably one of the best I have had. Now please keep in mind when u come her there are no tables most people just park across the street by the water . I will definitely revisit this place in a heart beat . So yummy. Anything fried is delicious

  2. Keyport Fishery! I'm in Nj visiting my aunt, who is recovering from surgery. I came here with my cousin, who was caring seafood but nothing too expensive. So through my search on the Yelp app, found this little gem.

I am going to keep it as simple as possible. Just like this business. 🙂 first–be warned this is NOT a restaurant. It's a fishery who happens to offer cooked seafood. That being said, there is no dining area, no table service, nada. Take out is the way to go, which was fine with us.

Second–CASH ONLY! And don't worry. There's an ATM inside the fishery in case you forget.

Ordering is simple. Menu is on the wall. Expect fried or grilled seafood served in platter combos (fries, housemade coleslaw and tartar sauce) or sandwich combos. There are a couple of soups/chowders, and the drinks are canned soft drinks, bottled water or iced tea. You order, pay, and give your initials (no names!) for the order. You wait a few minutes and they call your initials and leave the brown bag on the counter. Go pick up your plastic forks, napkins and condiments at the counter by the door. That's it!

Cousin and I ordered fried shrimp platters, and a combo platter for Auntie. WOW…so SO fresh! Nothing was greasy or salty, coleslaw was nice and smooth, and the fried shrimp batter was quite light!
Auntie loved the combo platter with shrimp, scallops, and grouper. Just as tasty, just as fresh and non greasy.

Prices are reasonable between $9-20 for sandwich or platter combos. Most expensive is the fried lobster at $20.

Of course if you prefer to cook yourself, then you are more than welcome to purchase a large variety of fish and shellfish at very fair market prices, along with a small variety of sauces, seasonings….

Needless to say, I'll be back for my next trip back to NJ!

  3. I eat here and feel at home. Enough said. Homemade tarter and home made cocktail sauce are seriously the best I ever had

  4. I am rarely in keyport, I was actually on my way home from Middletown so I decided to stop at the diner in keyport and they were closed so I just was driving and came across this place.  I'm really happy I did, I love a good fried shrimp platter which is what I got!  For $16 I got a ton of shrimp, fries, coleslaw, lemon, and cocktail sauce(they automatically give tarter, I asked for the substitute). I only ate half it was so much food!!!

I opted to take it home, I have about a 10 minute drive and then the bridge went up right before I got to it, so it was a good 20 minutes before I ate it so it wasn't as crispy as I would have liked but again my fault.  Next time I will eat across the street.  It was simple and delicious!

They sell fresh fish for you to take home but pretty much everything is fried so keep that in mind.  I read in other reviews about a cranky cashier I did not have that experience, he was very nice to me!

  5. The fried scallops!!! You gotta get it!!!! So juicy, meaty and delicious!!!! Now that I got that out of my system, let me tell you our whole order…

We got the clam strip platter, soft shell crab platter, 1/2 lb of oysters and 1/2 lb of scallops. They were all delicious! But my vote goes to the scallops and oysters. Hands down. Everything is crisp and not greasy, like you might experience at other places. In addition, they don't have unnecessary seasoning on them and it's still delicious! In addition, they're homemade tartar sauce is so good! Goes perfect with the fried goodies. The Cole slaw was yum too. Everything was just triple thumbs up. Can't wait to go back and try everything else.

Side notes: 1) you can tell everything is fresh because you step into the place and it doesn't smell fishy. That's key.
    2) There's no seating area so be prepared to sit in your car or I think there are some tables a little ways out.
    3) No bathrooms. Don't drink too much.haha.
    4) We got there around 11:30 on a Sunday and there was no line. But right when we left and while we were eating a lot of people went to the place so if you step in around noon, you may have a wait. But they're fast so don't stress.

  6. I came to check this place out last minute on Mother's Day and arrived to a long line of people placing orders and a doubly longer line of people waiting for orders. I ordered the Louisiana crab soup, fried flounder sandwich, and soft shell crab sandwich. Worth.the.wait! He batter on the flounder was light and had a nice crispness to it. The soft shell crab was delicious and light. The soup had great flavor but I wish it had a bit more crabmeat. There is no seating inside and only 2 benches outside. You can grab your food and walk over to the water to eat or drive over to the water, park, and eat. A few cars dropped their tailgates down and families were just sitting in the back having their food. Check this place out. You will like it!

  7. I have mixed feelings. It's a nice location and their menu is constantly changing with what's fresh. The service is quick and they control the abundant customer flow nicely to keep the line moving quickly. The staff is friendly and very helpful. However, there are a few negatives worth noting. As others have said, it's cash only and that can be a headache. Parking is limited, unless you park across the street and dare to cross between traffic. There's no seating. However, my biggest complaint and what sours me the most is that essentially everything is fried. Don't get me wrong, it all tastes good, but when you get fresh seafood, you want some healthy options, ie steamed, grilled, etc… Sadly, even the scallops and shrimp are fried…

  8. KeyPoint Fishery is far when your mommy tricks you into thinking its 10 miles away and you're driving from Clifton heading towards traffic not against it.

    I digress.

It wasn't in the best of moods heading to KPF, but when I smelled our food cooking I instantly had a smile like the Cheshire Cat.

We ordered the Shrimp Platter, Scallop Platter, and the Combo Platter. The combo platter consisted of shrimp, scallops, and a piece of fish. The portions here could easily be shared between two people. However when you come from a greedy family it's, "each man for himself".

I'm not a fan of the coleslaw or crinkle fries. I wish they offered different options like shoestrings or sweet potato fries. Their tartar sauce is bomb. Ask for extra because they don't give you a lot.
