Its fast food yes and really not healthy but I was on the run last Tuesday and coming home in the rain needed a quick bite. Oh nostalgia will get me every time.
My grandma used to lived right down the block next to to the fire house God rest her soul. So this bought me back the good old days when this might have been one of the first KFC in Brooklyn.
When eating KFC was a treat and not a given, before fast food was a household staple. Well ordered more than I could eat a 4 piece with 2 sides. It was alright, guess the extra star was for grand ma, cause this chicken ain't the same.
As a native of Louisville, I am very picky about my KFC. The food here isn't any better than it is at other locations, but the service is. I've been in 5 or 6 times, usually around dinnertime, and even when it's super busy and the line is slow, the girls behind the counter have never been anything but sweet and friendly. Most fast food joints seem to require their employees to hate their jobs and their customers, but here, even if they're not crazy about their jobs, every employee I've encountered has put a smile on my face.
This place is ok. It's good for a once in while brainless meal.
I MUST KNOW what they are feeding to suburbanites and many times this is the only way I can keep my finger on the pulse of that demographic.
Plus, their mashed potatoes are a treat, even if it does just serve to piss my wife off, as I steal hers, after I've scarfed down my own. 🙂
Really, the place can be a pain. If the line has more than 3 or 4 people in it, I don't even go inside.
The food pops out relatively quickly, as you stand in the bullpen area.
The quality is always decent. (nothing horrific ever found)
The tables in this place have heavy metal chairs that are difficult to move, and grate on the tile floor.
Sometimes the temperature inside can be either too hot or too cold. Depending on the season, on any given day, walking in and out of this place you might feel like a charcoal-popsicle.
Sometimes there are small groups of bratty kids in here, and/or the family with the uncontrollable children.
Oh…and there's no bathroom at this location.
If you have a car, maybe it's just better to either go thru the drive thru, or just eat in the car. 🙂
I like this place for it's convenience and reasonable quality.
PLUS…BONUS… There are like 3 or 4 site locations from Saturday Night Fever, only STEPS from this place. Heck, that's gotta be worth sumthin!? 🙂
