The Drunken Noodles and Thai Iced Tea are amazing. The outside looks pretty rachet, the inside is better. The service is impeccable. The presentation is unparalleled. I was impressed by the restaurant as a whole, can't wait to come back and eat!
There's a new place in Wayne, on Hamburg Turnpike, with a mid-western sounding name (Cow Tip?? Khao Tip??) LOL…but, the food is nothing to laugh at. I've been to the River Kwai In Totowa and have always had pretty decent food there, so I figured we'd give this newer establishment a try. We were absolutely NOT disappointed. The menu is smaller then most, but that's fine with me – less confusion and still great choices. I order the spring rolls for an appy, my friend got the lemon grass soup – we were both really pleased with our choices. The 5 spring rolls were tasty, moist – but NOT greasy, and came with a wonderful syrup-y duck sauce – tasted more homemade then bottled. I ordered the ginger and chicken Thai dish, which had various veggies in it, and abundance of tender chicken, and a light somewhat sweet sauce. Everything tasted so fresh and hot – the ginger was very potent, which is what I was looking for. YUM! And then we got the fried ice cream for dessert…mmmmmm- haven't had that in years, and I remember the place I last had it, it was a little better then this one, but this one wasn't too shabby.
It's a BYOB, so we had a bottle of wine, but the wait staff made sure our water glasses were full all night. They had a couple sit-down customers come in (on a Thursday night), and quite a few take-out orders were picked up in the 4 hours that we were there. It was nice to be able to sit and chat and not be rushed out. The staff was very attentive and always smiling – the decor is crisp and the place is clean (as was the bathroom – only one, uni-sex, but hey – it was clean). I'm surprised the place wasn't busier, but it's fairly new – I drove past it on a weekend about 2 months ago and it looked packed, that's why decided to try it last night. For two of us, with apps, meals, dessert, tax and tip – our bill was $60 – can't beat that in the tri-state area!!
So, I give it 2 thumbs up due to a Happy Staff, fresh and tasty meals, and clean restaurant. For decent Thai food, definitely check out Khao Tip in Wayne!!
Khao Tip is a solid Thai restaurant located right on the corner of Hamburg Turnpike and Black Oak Ridge Rd. The quality of food is better than all the other Thai resturants in the area.
The dinning area is split into two sides. They have one dinning area they use mainly and a secondary area for when it's busy, but it's not big enough to use as a private party/event room.
The wife and I usually come here for lunch. It's one of the only places in the area, that I can think of, that have a Monday though Saturday Lunch Specials. Plus, all of the lunch entrees are $6.95, which is a really great deal.
When it comes to Thai food, I'm a huge fan of the curry dishes; I usually go for the green curry, but sometimes I'll change it up to Red on Panang. That being said, I can attest to the fact that they make a phenomenal green curry; it's extremely pungent and flavorful.
Best Thai spot in the area.
Khao Tip occupies a rather unique place, in the Wayne New Jersey area. Located at the intersection of Black Oak Ridge Road and Hamburg Turnpike, it stands at the site of a former deli which took over from a pizzeria. Undaunted by the property's history, Khao Tip has made a real place for itself at that location.
One of the most striking attributes of this restaurant is its ambience. Although Asian, the inside is very simple and modern, with pleasant pictures of Thailand and various foods adorning the walls. The tables are beautiful wood pieces, and all the glassware and tableware sparkles.
We began with spring rolls. This appetizer is a staple in Thai food. Cellophane noodles are wrapped up in a flaky dough and fried quickly and served with a sweet sauce. We also tried the crab rangoon, which was mostly crab with very little cheese. The tom yum soup was very similar to Chinese hot and sour soup, but the broth was delicious and thin and not not thickened or gloppy. It did carry quite a spicy punch. My daughter had a dish of white noodles with broccoli and tofu, my wife had lettuce wraps with chicken, & I had basil chicken. We could not have been more pleased.
The menu selection is more than adequate, and for those who would just like to try the cuisine before jumping in, this restaurant serves a very nice lunch special Monday through Saturday, for $6.95.
This is one of my go-to places for lunch in Wayne. I have been back several times with co-workers. They all agree that this is a great place for Thai food. Service and food continue to impress. Prices are very reasonable.
Came here from LA to visit some friends for a wedding. We have some pretty amazing Thai Food where we live so we thought we would try this place out.
At first glance we noticed the prices were pretty high. But maybe because this is kind of a small dinky town of like 20 people haha. But we dove right in since we're so hungry.
The Curry Puffs were good. Simple and tasty little snack dish.
The Pork Pad Thai was decent. Seemed a tad on the bland side but we still liked it. Portions were good for what we wanted. Not too small but not too big either.
The Panyang Curry was a little watery. But we ate the whole thing. It was good. Big portion on that.
Service was also good. Very nice ladies working here.
