  1. When I'm craving some sushi, this is the neighborhood spot I go to for take out. For under $20 I get three rolls, an appetizer and a soup. It's a good deal and everything tastes decent. This is a takeout/delivery spot.. there are like two counter seats but seems awkward to eat inside.

  2. I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars for this place. Our usual place is 5th Ave Vegetarian Delight/Osaka Sushi (yes, one of those places with a name crisis), but lately I've been needing a change. Kiku has nice quality fish and well put together rolls, fancier than our usual place. The prices are in a reasonable range for your basic rolls and the specialty rolls are particularly tasty though most are on the higher price end- I really enjoyed the Kiku Spicy Tuna roll, although it just seems like a larger, more expensive version of a basic spicy tuna crunch roll.

While I recognize they've got a bit more skill than Osaka, I'm just not impressed. You have to spend at least $10 to get free delivery and they charge you for sides of any sauces, which sort of takes out the part where you're saving money on the lunch special. I ordered today and am really disappointed in the lunch I got for $12 plus tip. The salmon skin roll doesn't come with eel sauce and has a strong fishy flavor, instead of that smokey flavor you really want with salmon skin. The spicy tuna is okay, but the spicy mayo is lacking in flavor (its usually our favorite side item, but last time we got it we just tossed it out). It seems to come as a spicy tuna "crunch" by default, at least I've had tempura flakes in mine each time. The shrimp tempura roll was good and a really nice size for lunch special, though again I wasn't blown away.  The delivery people thus far have been gruff and disinterested, I have no urge to tip them overly generously like I do with the sweet guys at Osaka sushi.

I'll keep Kiku in the rotation to keep me from a case of sushi monotony, but it won't be replacing Osaka as my #1 delivery place.

  3. First time trying this place and everything was pretty good. Had a three roll special, California roll,Eel roll,Shrimp Tempura roll. All three were very fresh tasting. Loved the sauce on the Eel, it had a nice spicy kick to it. Also had an order of Gyoza and they were good as well. Plus they put a little wrapped candy in the bag, more places should know how little things like that really do matter.

  4. What a great find! The $10 lunch special will leave you stuffed! Wasn't the biggest fan of the miso soup, but the sushi rolls (especially for the price) were awesome. Be warned, this isn't a restaurant. This is more of a take it to go place. We took it to-go and sat on someone's stoop to enjoy some sun and sushi. Really glad the people who lived at the house never came home cause that would have been awkward to say the least.  Will definitely be back.

  5. This KIKU is the takeout counter (vs. the sit-down joint a few blocks down) and this place, for whatever reason, is vastly superior. Their rolls are delicious, well put together and fresher/better tasting than the other place. The other place is just a little…. off.

Prompt delivery (where the hot stuff is still hot) and a great lunch special (3 rolls for about a Hamilton).

  6. Decently speedy delivery, big portion sizes, and paid attention to all of the modifications.

I rarely eat out but I never fail to order sushi delivery at least once a week. This place did not disappoint today! I would order again.

  7. Kiku is ok but it's not great. I have ordered some of the basic sushi rolls like crunchy spicy tuna or shrimp tempura and I was disappointed. Some of the more expensive rolls are better. Another local place, good for take out, no space to eat there.

  8. Decent Sushi in the hood- nothing amazing but a strong contender in the neighborhood.  I like their rolls and appetizers.
