  1. We order delivery from Kinara almost every other weekend for some tikka masala and chicken vindaloo with butter or garlic naan. I've been to the restaurant about twice in the entire decade I've lived in the area and I have to say, I'm more inclined to order out than in. The atmosphere needs rejuvenating – as in, it needs some reconstruction or at least a change in the decoration. The price is good and I love their buy-one-meal-get-second-half-off deal that's been ongoing, but they need to get in sync with their online app suppliers (i.e., GrubHub and Seamless). When I order food, I want to know the entire list of what they offer and the price instead of having to put it in the note saying "butter naan please" and being charged an extra dollar for each at the door – what if I didn't have any cash on me? The food takes forever to be delivered so we try to call in advance or make ourselves appetizers while we wait. I can't speak for all the other dishes, but the two that we always order (as stated in the beginning) are good enough for me.

  2. I came here for the lunch buffet, which was really worth the money. There were about 5-6 main dishes, a bunch of different types of salads, rice, and a dessert. Each table was provided a tray of naan, which was warm, fresh, and delicious. My favorite was definitely the chicken tandoori and the goat (so good). Wished they had a paneer dish the day I went though!

It is also BYOB, which is great.  The wait staff was super friendly. There is parking in a private lot, which is nice.

When I first walked in, I was in a separate dining room where the buffet was not. There was no one there to greet me so I stood there for a while waiting to see if a staff member would come out. Thankfully, my friends found me and showed me to the buffet dining area. Definitely a little confusing.

I would definitely return. That naan alone is worth it.

  3. I went here thinking this will be a fancy place with good food. Truth is neither this place is fancy nor the food is good. The indian food they serve is for people who don't know what indian food is, in other words for people who don't know what authentic indian food is like. So, i didn't like the food at all, it was very bland and tasteless. Even the kebabs lacked flavor. They need to up their game a lot.

  4. Ended up dodging traffic on river road because Blue Lotus in Fort Lee was closed due to technical problems. Overall, it was a quiet, private affair having the entire upstairs to ourselves.

The chicken saag was disappointingly flavorful. The tikka masala was good but not as flavorful as Blue Lotus. Same with their Chinese/Indian dish.  I really enjoyed their eggplant and the gentle heat in their vindaloo.  I also liked their assorted nan basket.

Byob is always a plus. They did a great job checking in on us even though we were the only ones upstairs.

  5. LUNCH BUFFET REVIEW:
$12 bucks for all you can eat Indian lunch buffet!
What else could you ask for. The service is great.
Food was great. Several Meat and vegetarian friendly meals to chose from.
    Nann was fantastic.
And they even had a soup of the day.

I had no complaints for that price. The food. The service.

I recommend anyone to come here if you enjoy Indian!

  6. Epic service. We were served like royalty here. By the manager/owner himself. He took care of us from start to finish. It was my girlfriend's first time having Indian so he was extra attentive. We had the Goat Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala. All with fluffy fresh naan and rice. As well as some appetizers. Everything was great. This place is BYOB so come prepared. I shy away from 5 stars because the food was ALMOST there. A true 4.5 and I do plan on returning for sure.

  7. Stopped in for the lunch buffet with Ben. One thing I really like about Kinara is they're one of the few Indian restaurants I frequent that serve Indian-Chinese food, like hakka noodles or chili chicken. They also keep a little bit of spice in their dishes.

As usual, warm naan bread was brought to our table as we ate. I always like goat curry, but the Indian-Chinese dishes and the fish curry stuck out. The fish curry did not have any bones to pick out, pretty much the only reason I don't usually like fish curry.

Gulab Jamun was served for dessert, along with what I think were grated carrots. Alone, the Gulab Jamun is too sweet for me, but liberal amounts of grated carrots balance it out.

Service is good. Plates are taken, basket of naan always full, and drinks are kept filled. Speaking of which, I don't like their glasses. Kinda shaped like a fish bowl, so it's awkward to drink out of.

  8. I come here all the time! How could I have not written a review?

I love this neighborhood spot. I've been to many Indian restaurants in NJ and NYC and this one always pleases me the most. I always get the lamb karma (mild spice coconut curry with cashews). I love it. I've also tried the lamb curry which has a rich authentic flavor. When I don't feel like having curry I get the lamb shank. It's damn good! The huge lamb shank comes smothered in a tomato sauce that it was delish.

There is a private parking lot and there are two entrances- one on top by the mall and one on River road. I would highly recommend this Indian place!
