  1. We wanted Greek and accidentally stumbled upon this food truck.  There was a line … in the rain … and we almost left, but it was so late we figured we might as well wait …..
    TOTALLY WORTH IT.
Now we understand why there was a ridiculous line, even in the rain.
    Food was amazing.
    The guys were super friendly.
I will make sure to come back again and again.

  2. First of all…Let me start by saying I was very skeptical about the reviews. I'm not the kind of person who eats from food trucks but gave it a try due to everyone ranting and raving.

Oh my gosh! Heaven in a Gyro. I ordered the pork Gyro with everything except BBQ sauce. I have eaten at a lot of Greek places, and I have to say this is the best gyro I ever had..period. It's so good I told my wife to go there after work cause she has to try it out. I ate my gyro about 3 hours ago and I'm still thinking about it….fat ass me.

  3. The food from King Souvlaki is hearty and flavorful, and their Loux Orange (Soda) Drink is satisfying, too.

I got the Chicken Souvlaki Sandwich in pita bread, and I appreciated that the tzatziki (strained yogurt sauce) didn't overwhelm the vegetables and moist, flavorful chicken, which took center stage in every bite. The five french fries that were inside the sandwich were a nice, fun surprise too.

I eyed the Loux Orange Juice Drink before ordering, and decided to get it out of curiosity, because I noticed from its label that it's an item straight from Greece. This beverage was worth the $2 I paid for it, because it tasted like a lighter version of Fanta or Sunkist– like orange soda, but not as intense in color and more natural tasting (not as artificial).

I passed by this food truck earlier this evening and am glad that it's adding something different to the food scene in this town, by its very nature of being a food truck (as opposed to a bakery or restaurant) here in Bayside (though I know it has a location in Astoria)!

  4. I think the Greek gods on Mount Olympus must have sent this truck over by way of Astoria Queens! The Souvlaki King definitely delivers some tasty and delicious Greek comfort food! The food truck is clean and the guys who work here are always friendly which goes a long way in customer satisfaction. Great food + Excellent customer service = Happy frequent customer and it shows as the customers are always in a good mood lining up at the truck.

Prices are clearly posted and are very reasonable since they give you a lot of food for the money. The menu offers up your basic Greek favorites of souvlaki, gyro and pita sandwiches with your choice of chicken, pork and Loukaniko. They also have salads if you wish to eat lighter. The food truck only accepts cash.

My favorite here is the Chicken souvlaki combo platter with feta fries. Delicious and moist flavorful chicken nestled nicely on top of pita bread and French fries then adorned with crumbled feta on top, served with a side salad and a large heaping spoon of tzatziki sauce. Yes, all this deliciousness is served in a plain white Styrofoam container and it makes me happy, why? Because once you settle in and flip the lid open, it's heaven, OPA!!!!!!!!!

  5. 9 bucks for chicken souvlaki over rice but it's well worth the money. Definitely higher quality meat and other ingredients. It will be my one of my top joints to go when I need a quick and good greek food 🙂

  6. Not bad, but I have had better. If Im going to have greek, then I'll go to Maria's or Nikita's. The rice was super basic with not much flavor at all (more color than flavor). The greek salad was small and missing kalamata olives. The only highlight was the chicken souvlaki which was good, kind of fatty and they dont give you much of it. If it was up to me, Id say this place is over-hyped.

  7. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki stick and it was awesome. The meat was tender and the sauce was superb. There were other added ingredients that was put into the stick but I am not sure what were those. But they added the flavor and made the difference.

What can I say? This place offers great tasting food at a cheap price. Also it is located in a very convenient place. Definitely worth coming for more!

  8. Finally had a chance to try the food. Ordered the chicken souvlaki platter with fries.  The chicken was absolutely delicious, well marinated and very tender. The salad was fresh but came with  no olives or feta which is the best part of a salad! …it did come with excessive amount of red onions (which I love).  The fries was the thick cut fries, it was  soggy and nothing special.  Will have to try the lamb, the feta fries, and the rice next time!
