Really, really good sushi.
I ordered delivery on a Saturday night and it arrived reasonably quickly (I also live like 3 blocks away).
The yellowtail/jalapeño was quite good. Nice and spicy.
The tuna tataki (served in their "special sauce") was just alright. The sauce wasn't really anything, and the tuna was fresh enough. Just didn't have much flavor other than being rubbed in black pepper.
Lastly, the salmon don was amazing. Around 10 thick cut slices of sashimi over a bed of rice (a LOT of it), and some fishy roe on the side. It was $18, but was by far the best thing I ordered from there.
All in all, if you want a larger sitdown spot, try Taro. But if you want more affordable (but still good) sushi, go with Koto.
Koto Sushi is definitely most popular for take-out/delivery, but a friend and I decided to meet here for dinner last night, and the space is cute!
Per usual, I wanted to order everything from the menu, but I eventually ended up selecting the Sushi Deluxe with miso soup; my friend ordered a couple of rolls. We also split the tempura appetizer. The tempura, fried well, and not too greasy, was accompanied by a tasty dipping sauce. My Sushi Deluxe, which was served with a tuna roll, hit the spot! The tuna roll was delicious, wrapped in rice and seaweed, and of course dipped in a lot of wasabi and soy sauce. Other than the white fishes, the rest of the fish was also good, and included tuna, salmon, and eel. I washed it all down with a bottle of Sapporo. My friend said that her rolls were also good, and she sipped on a small sake.
The service was friendly and attentive, as we were the only ones dining in. They sure had a lot of delivery orders, though!
For delivery this place is spot on! I worked nights for an entire month and out of the 20 nights I was on call I ordered Koto maybe 15 of them. Koto, if you are wondering why September was such a great month for you, I am single handedly the reason. The delivery is not very fast, depending on the day, but the fish is invariably fresh and delicious. I always get the sashimi platter and a roll and everything is always delectable. They have really good specialty rolls too if you're feeling adventurous. So Koto, this review is my tribute to my sanity, which I still have after night float, was maintained through the graces of your perfectly sliced raw fish morsels. Thank you!
AM pretty devoted to Jpan on 5th avenue but I have been on a sushi hiatus the last while. To be completely honest I think I chose koto because on GrubHub the delivery minimum was the lowest. Everything was pretty tasty and I would definitely make an effort to go to the physical location in the future.
I came to here to grab some lunch on the go. Possibly the tiniest sushi restaurant I have every seen and been to. I ordered off their lunch special menu.
I got the Sashimi Lunch Box. It comes with a Miso Soup, Salad, Californian Roll, Harumaki Spring Roll, and Rice.
The Californian Roll was okay. Nothing much to rave about.
The Harumaki Spring Roll lacked taste.
The rice was cooked perfectly.
I did like the sashimi. It was fresh and tasted good.
For $8.50, I think it's reasonable lunch special deal. You got a lot with the lunch special. The Lunch Box took only about 10 minutes to prepare.
Ordered from Koto on seamless and it went, well, seamlessly! Took about half an hour to arrive at my doorstep and the order was all correct. The delivery man was perfectly friendly.
The sushi was great. The rolls were relatively inexpensive, large, and really packed with fish so two rolls were quite filling (even though at some other restaurants I find I can eat much more before filling up).
The fatty tuna scallion hand roll was tasty although the fish seemed to be slathered in oil or a similar liquid which was a bit odd. The spicy scallop roll and Philadelphia roll were both excellent.
I've also had the chirashi (see picture) and I didn't find it as tasty as their rolls, although the portion was large. Some of the fish was chewy which was unfortunate. My advice is to stick to the sushi rolls.
I will definitely order from them again on the next rainy Saturday night and I look forward to trying some of their specialty rolls as some sounded quite unique!
Apparently the only thing I ever order from Seamless is sushi. Today I decided to switch it up and pick a different sushi restaurant than my norm. Totally worth it.
This place has a 3 sushi roll special around lunch time for about ten dollars!! They had all my favorites included in this deal so I was very satisfied with this. I needed to get something else to meet the minimum so I order shumai. I love shumai it's pretty much one of the best things around. The food came in a good amount of time, I wasn't even thinking man can my food just hurry up and get here when it arrived, major plus.
When I received my food I got the pleasant surprise of finding out it also came with soup and salad. So for about ten bucks I got soup, salad and three sushi rolls. Can I get a hells yes? I got the spicy tuna roll, Alaska roll and my all time favorite the eel avocado roll. The miso soup was alright, I mean it tasted like miso soup and honestly I just don't like miso soup that much in general. The salad was great as always, I love whatever dressing they put on it. I did enjoy the sushi rolls, even though my Alaska roll kept falling apart, honestly it was probably my fault. The shumai was as expected. and what I expected was amazingness.
Overall I had an excellent takeout experience. I'll have to pay them a visit and see how the actually restaurant is.
Not bad considering I just stumbled upon it! I happened to be in the Prospect Heights area and wanted a quick dinner. It was quick alright- I was in and out in less than 45 min. Seems as though they mostly do take out/delivery. There was one other patron there other than myself- which explains the fast service. Regardless, my waitress was nice, and always filled up my water- even after I paid the bill. Decor is simple and the place is small- but, there are enough tables and room at the bar that you never should have to wait.
It was $16 for the Tuna Deluxe. It was a good variety and very fresh- one tuna (not spicy) roll, and 7 pieces of sushi- an assortment of salmon (thank God no shrimp- I hate shrimp sushi!), mackerel (rarer), cooked eel (very good), tuna, and yellowtail. I didn't bother to look at the specials, but I think they had some good, fresh items like uni, and tuna toro- items not available at your run of the mill sushi place, though, this had the run of the mill items, at run of the mill prices.
I'd come back if I was in the area!
