  1. Kulu Desserts has this cute little dessert pudding that comes in a nice glass cup. It is super tasty and flavorful for about $3.50, and I love it. The shop is really really small, about four seats or so. With that, most of their food is take togo, which is no problem. Located right outside of NYU its pretty nice to come down here and grab a nice little dessert inbetween classes. I love their matcha pudding, but their original is pretty darn good too. The only thing though is that all I like is their pudding. Everything else is relatively moderate and basic. Nothing too exciting and kind of a cramped space. Other than that, this place is a must, but nothing too exciting.

  2. I don't know how this review escaped for so long…

We came here with a Groupon for $20 and were worried that we wouldn't be able to spend it all in one visit. It wasn't. If you have similar concerns, don't worry, you will find plenty on the menu to order!

We ended up going with the choconana waffle and the ice cream mario, both of which really hit the spot and satisfied our sweet tooth. The ice cream mario was a super refreshing combination of tapioca in mango juice, two scoops of ice cream (vanilla + green tea), kiwi, and dragonfruit. I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it for a light dessert on a sunny day. 🙂 The waffle is really simple. It consists of a sliced banana drizzled with chocolate syrup laid over a waffle and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was a bit sweet for my taste, but my friend devoured it anyway.

We also got two puddings (chai tea and matcha) to go, which put us a bit over the $20 limit. We enjoyed them after dinner the next day, which was a great idea because they were light and guilt-free treats!

Just an FYI, there is very limited seating in store. There are literally two counter seats and then one tiny bench. If you're lucky and happen to stop by during an off hour, you can probably get your desserts to stay. Otherwise, plan to get it to-go!

I'll definitely be back, even without a Groupon! And I'm excited to bring friends here as well. 🙂

  3. This is the closest place around me, the place is rather small with only 2 high chairs and a small bench that fits 2 people. They have similar selections compared to flushing and Brooklyn location. They also sell puddings. Overall it's okay I guess. It taste similar to the other locations.

  4. GET THE GROUPON DEAL!$10 for $20 credit.

Stopped by to pick up some desserts for the old folks.
This place is a really really tiny area. Don't even consider sitting down here and
    to enjoy your dessert.
With the Groupon deal I was able to get almost one of every pudding flavor. Nothing too unique about the puddings, but it'll be a cute gift.

The Sawdust puddings are the best out of all the puddings. Its topped with extremely lightly finely grounded nilla(?) cookies. At least it taste like nilla cookies to me.

  5. This is a small grab & go place. Although, There's a small area for a group of 3 to eat at on the left its gets pretty cramped.

The employee was really nice & answered all the questions I had for her. I ordered the mango sago pamelo with no citrus fruit & she was happy to accommodate me. Our food came out fast as well

It was really good & it tasted like real mangos! Although the fresh mango slices were too hard & a little bitter (mostly because it's not mango season at the moment). But the sago & the tapioca pearls tastes great. The tapioca pearls were soft & melts in your mouth like how they are suppose to be. Towards the end it started to lose the mango taste & it just tasted like water which is disappointing since the first half was so good. I ended up throwing it away.

I don't think I would be coming back. I've had better mango sago at other places, but it's definitely worth a try if you never had mango sago before.

  6. It's was only my second trip to Kulu and it was time I did my review. I looked online and saw these Fresh Fruit bowls and one I was eying for, Ice Cream Mario and also some soup bowls and little jars of pudding. But I was so surprised to see such a small shop that I felt there were no seats, table or counter to eat at over at the Greenwich Village location, but my photo shows one two seats and a small table.

I was on the go so I decided to skip the bowls and get some of the pudding jar in different flavors for my buddies and I to try. I got Milk, Durian, Matcha, Sesame, and Thai Tea.

From all of them only the Matcha had anything going for it. And I didn't think anything of the Durian but one friend made a face like she wanted to spit it out.

On my second trip I got more pudding jars and also the the  chocolate sawdust puddings. Now the sawdust puddings are named real good because my mouth was dry and not enough pudding to make up for it but the chocolate flavoring was OK.

I think I need to get that that Ice Cream Mario it looked too cool not to taste good so I give Kulu 4 stars as a sign of good  faith.

  7. I lived in Macau for several years so when I heard that the owner was from Macau, I just could not wait to try it out! I ordered taro sago soup, which was one of my favorite back in Macau. However, I was very disappointed. The soup was very watery, with half-cooked tiny taro chunks in it, while the authentic one should be thick, have a strong coconut taste and soft taro chunks. I did not try any other items but I do not think I will. I guess you can find something better in Chinatown.

  8. I was surprised to find this Asian dessert place in the West Village. Authentic Chinese desserts. I've only been here a few times and have mixed opinions about this place, though.

The first time, I got the taro and sago in coconut milk tong sui. It was meh. The taro was too hard for my taste and the coconut too artificial. It was too watery. I expected a thicker dessert. I've come here again since then and I've gotten the mirakulu puddings that are in the display case. Those are really good!! I especially enjoy the original flavor, so I come here every once in a while when I'm at school (NYU) and I'm craving something sweet. Unfortunately, this place is really small and only offered too seats, but I'm a big fan of the fact they they accept card, unlike most Asian places that are cash only.
