  1. Ever since the waitress spilled water on my friend, nothing was the same.

Came in on a Thursday night with a couple of friends for a dinner. Menu was a typical korean menu and additional sushi options. There was nothing to unique about the menu or the service, but once water was spilled onto my friend's lap, the staff was so nice to us and gave us an a few appetizers and drinks on the house!

I ordered a Tofu stoned bibimbap. Taste pretty similar to other bibimbaps. but the small dishes!! Love the sour kimchi and this sweet spicy squidy dish.
The wait staff continuously refilled our small dishes and also gave clear glass noodles as well as a few drinks on the house.
And the free milky frozen yogurt!! Love the tanginess from the yogurt.

Shout out to the friend who took one for the gang and got his pants wet.

  2. Best Korean BBQ hands down.  I try to make it out here from Brooklyn. There LA Kalbi is very tender and marinated just right.  I also tried a handful of soups they have on their menu and it truly is made traditionally. Reminds me of my moms cooking.

The decor inside is decent with a couple flat screen TVs throughout the room.  They have vents on top of every table so that the smoke from the BBQ can go through it.

The service is always great at Korean restaurants but this place is exceptional.  They work fast and efficient.  I highly recommend this place for anyone craving Korean BBQ!

  3. We stopped in on a Saturday night for dinner after our Korean class.  Korean class always gets me and the "ball and chain" in the mood to eat us some Korean food.

I love the decor and space in this place- the tables are several feet apart.  It feels even more spacious because the restaurant is filled with polite families celebrating various occasions- so it's lively but not loud.

It was also a thrill to read all our dishes to the waitress in Korean.  Not quite the thrill of being in a hot tub Snoop Dogg style with a dozen bikini-clad biddies, but at my age mispronouncing the word for dumplings counts as excitement nonetheless.

So as far as the food goes, we had the Bulgogi, dubu jigae (the red spicy stew you see in photos), fried vegetable dumplings and, to keep the fiber content above zero, an order of grilled veggies.  We would give the dumplings 2/5 and the rest of the food 3/5.  The side dishes were OK.  I didn't feel the kimchi was spicy enough.

The waitress was really friendly, we enjoyed chatting while she grilled the food.

To eat here is not cheap, the above ran us close to a c-note.  But if you don't have a hot tub or biddies, an evening here is not a bad way to spend your money, and you don't need to change it all into dollar bills.

  4. This used to be a place where I'd spend childhood weekends eating dinner with my family. Now it's lousy in all components. Service is lacking when it's not busy and the food could definitely use improvement. The side dishes reeked when my server placed them and they clearly weren't fresh. My soup burned my mouth from being too salty on the first try.. The "manager" would be on speaker phone talking like someone would in the comfort of their home – very rude considering it was quiet in the restaurant.

  5. This place was first introduced to my family and I by my uncle. This was back when I was 8 years old (26 now). Thats a long time and it really brings back wonderful memories. My uncle is korean and were russian, very cool mix. He introduced us to korean bbq, and this was the first place he took us to try. I can still remember being a kid, dropping coins with my cousins to make wishes in their pond and beautiful waterfall thats filled with really pretty japanese coy fish. Seriously, great memories.

So first off this place is huge and I can never remember it not being packed. They have a big parking lot which is really a huge help because parking isnt easy in the neighborhood. Some waiters aren't too good with english, but like I said my uncle took care of that back then. We always ordered the kimchee jaegae, galbi, buldogi, bibimbob. Sometimes terryaki, and sushi. Kimchee jaegae was an instant hit in my family. So spicy, but still yum! I prefer the buldogi than galbi, but thats just me. Both are cooked in front of you and never dry. Always flavorful and juicy. I really love their sidedishes. Best part is you never have to ask for more. It keeps coming when they noticed you finished it. Service is great always quick as possible.

I had the pleasure of introducing my husband to korean cuisine since its my favorite.  Of all the places we tried k-town in the city or bayside this place really impressed him. Last time we came was back in January service and food was just as good as I remember it.

  6. This place is a huge, 24 hour Korean BBQ restaurant. Really good for large groups. But beware you will see and smell the BBQ smoke in the air once you enter the door. Expect to reek like BBQ for days.

Seafood pancake – Good but I like my pancakes a bit crispier. Lots of filling.

    BBQ –
Kalbi – comes pre-cut with no bone. While the meat is tender and flavorful, I'm not used to boneless. I think the bone adds even more flavor the meat when cooked together.
Bulgogi and chicken – Both meats were just okay.

Soon Doo Boo Jigae – got to have my tofu pot here. This was just okay as well. I think the egg was pre-cracked in the soup. I prefer to crack it myself.

We also ordered salmon and a rice roll dish separately. The rice roll cake was pretty good and soft, slightly spicy.

This place is decent. They bring out food extremely quick and want you to order as soon as you sit down. It's good for large groups. However, this is a place that's better for someone who's ready to eat and leave quickly. Not really a sit down, dine and enjoy your meal type of place.

  7. Between this branch in Flushing and the one in K-town, I prefer the former. The ambience was slightly cosier, the service, both personnel and the food, was faster (at least on an early not-so-busy weeknight), and after my latest visit to the Flushing KGS, I found the food quality better as well (although quite subtle differences).

We ordered the seafood pajun (pancake), japchae noodles, and hwe dop bap (raw fish with hot sauce, veg, and rice). Before we got our meals, we were quite pleased with the bottomless tea and banchan selection–kimchi, mushrooms, water spinach, fish, pickled octopus, bean sprouts, potatoes (both pickled and baked variations), and miso soup (albeit oversalted). The pajun and hwe dop bap were highlights for us–nicely-prepped fish, fresh vegetables, slightly crispy pancakes, etc. The japchae was slightly underwhelming for me as I had expected more beef in the dish. But our meal ended nicely with a complementary froyo, so all's good.

The prices are a bit on the higher end for my taste, but we didn't feel like it was a rip-off either.

  8. My in-laws had dropped in town for the evening and were craving Korean food so my husband and i searched around and decided to come here.

We ordered two orders of bibimbap, kimchi pancakes, and shrimp tempura maki. When the kimchi pancakes were ready the server distributed it to each person. The dip for it tasted like plain black vinegar and the pancake itself was bland. The kimchi didn't taste like it was fermented enough either. I was so disappointed.

The next dish I tasted was the shrimp tempura maki, now this one was yummy. The tempura was just the right amount of crunchy and it was made and displayed perfectly with a drizzle of sauce over each piece that really gives it a kick.

& last but not least, the complimentary dessert. This was so weird. I don't even have words to describe how it tasted. They called it green tea ice cream but it was more of a yogurt, and it did not taste like green tea at all. I didnt like it.

But my in-laws enjoyed their bibimbap.

Overall the service was slow, and the food was OK.
