I was super bummed out because I rolled my ankle playing softball. I had to skip a party last night and brunch today because I just can't walk. My fridge is basically empty, so to make sure that I at least had enough food to eat while I pout on the couch and watch movies, I got delivery from Kum Wei Kitchen and got waaay more food than I expected for what I paid. They have ridiculous lunch specials for $5, even on Sundays. Since I was getting delivery, there was a min delivery requirement of $8. So, I got two lunch specials. For those prices, why not?
I picked the mixed vegetable & bean curd, and the sautéed broccoli. Both came with your selection of rice (white or brown) as well as a drink or soup. I got the egg drop soup and the homemade iced tea. They also allowed you to add lo mein for $1. Really?? That's not a substitution, by the way (as I was thinking it might be). It's a whole extra side of it. They also had fried apple slices for $2.
Long story short, I ended up with a ridiculous amount of food for $14. The food was delivered promptly and was packaged tightly. The delivery guy was super friendly, and insisted on carrying the bag to my door while I hobbled along. Really very nice of him.
Seamless had a coupon for $7 off your order using coupon code KJ52B3 (you're welcome) which exp 6/14, so with tip I ended up paying $10.17 for enough Chinese food to cover my coffee table in containers while I rock out to The Little Mermaid and ice this stupid ankle.
Ordered a huge amount of fried chicken wings and shrimp/veggie dumplings for an impromptu gathering at our abode. Good last minute food. Everyone devoured the wings and the dumplings went soon thereafter. Definitely a crowd pleaser.
Also tried the shrimp and broccoli. Tasty dish. Big shrimp. Service can be a bit slow at times, so maybe call ahead if you're in a rush.
For food I would give it a 4 star, but for overall experience it's 3.
I placed and order for delivery and had to wait over an hour! After I called them I was informed that the food it's on the way – and it was here in less than 2 minutes steaming hot!
I had sesame chicken with white rice, brown rice and fried baby shrimps. The shrimps were nice, just a tad more sos wouldn't hurt anybody. The chicken was delicious! A large portion feed 2 people and I still have some leftovers for lunch. The sticky sos made the dish for me.
I will definitely try more from their menu, but maybe firstly ask how long for a delivery.
