“It can also get a little rowdy as they have happy hour specials, group party rooms and a small bar.”

“Maybe its not so fusion but I guess that they offer two different cuisines in the same place so its all cool.”

  1. Went here today for lunch with a friend. The place is surprisingly nice. The menu has a wide variety of Thai and Japanese dishes. I had the tum yum soup with shrimp which was good, a non-alcoholic drink made with lychee, gingerale and mint- which was very good and refreshing and I had the princess roll, which was basically salmon and avocado, tasted fresh enough, but definitely not the best sushi i've had, but good for the prices here, it's not nobu lol. For dessert I had their green tea and red bean icecream. Lunch cost around $35 including tip, not bad for all that food and the portions are good. I will be returning.

  2. Nice classy Japanese/Thai restaurant. My friends and I went after class one night since there weren't much places open around the neighborhood. It seems like a lot of people come here for parties and big occasions. The waiters are very nice considering we came in here 30 minutes before closing. Our food came out super quick. I ordered a pad thai and it was sooooo good ! My friends all ordered some type of noodles and they were all satisfied. There was a wide range of drinks as well. Overall, I really enjoyed my food, but their dishes are more on the pricey side.

It is difficult to find parking since they don't have a parking lot or anything. You can pay meters or go towards the residential area to park for free and if you don't mind walking.

  3. MEH. Good enough food for the most part. I only go to Kyoto for their lunch special, because any other time in the day is just too expensive for a college student like me. I must say, living in this neighborhood, there aren't a lot of good food around St. John's, so if we want mediocre foods that is within reasonable distance and pricing, my friends and I would usually go to Kyoto or some other places on on Near Union/Utopia.

If you are a poor college student like me who doesn't need that much food to satisfy your hunger, then Kyoto lunch special is the menu for you. I would just order a pad thai ($7) and half of that would satisfy my lunch and the other half dinner. They also pack A LOTTTTTT of noodles in there too, what I like about them is that they don't go cheap on you on the quantity even if it's just lunch special. My favorite is the black noodles with beef, because they tend to be less dry and more flavorful. Once in a while I would switch around on the lunch menu to try other types of foods. Overall, their foods are okay…it's not spectacular, but it'll keep you full for a ridiculously cheap price. As far as the sushi goes,  I don't like to pay for bad expensive sushi,  but once in a while I would get an order of spicy tuna and salmon. Their fish definitely doesn't taste very fresh.  And their special rolls are just okay as well. Sadly there is no longer good sushi in this neighborhood.

I usually order take out,  but if you decide to have a sit down dinner in the restaurant,  the staff here are very nice and attentive,  and the customer service is really great.

  4. This place is awesome because it has so many of your favorite Asian dishes on one menu but much is tasteless, basic and over priced

  5. Been here a few times since it's close to my university. Many things on the menu are average Asian cuisines that you can find.

The pad Thai is not bad and a good deal especially during lunch time! Sushi rolls are great as well so I'd say this is a typical three star place.

However on my most recent visit, I tried their tonkatsu broth pork ramen, their weekly chef special and I gotta say it was definitely one of the better ones I have tried in the Queens area! At first I was going to add some spices to turn up the heat, however I was surprised by the balance the shredded red pepper strings on top gave to the bowl of ramen. No extra spice was needed! Not the most aesthetic bowl of ramen but the flavors were great and that's what's important!

I hope this trend keeps up as Kyoto continues to improve on itself.

  6. Kyoto is probably my favorite sushi place to go to
In Queens. Every time I come I'm never disappointed and the service is always on point. I have a couple of favorites that I would recommend to anyone.

The chicken Thai lover is one of my favorites. It's really thin rice noodles and I always ask for it to be made extra spicy. The Kyoto lobster roll is a delectable beauty. The way they plate it is awesome and it tastes great. I also love the Ebi Ebi roll. The pineapple fried rice is yummy and they serve it in half of a pineapple which is also really cute.

The restaurant is cute. The sushi is yummy. Service is great. Drinks are good and so is the food. I have no complaints and Kyoto remains to be one of my favs.

  7. I've been here a couple of times and the place was good. The latest time I came was with my family and wife. It was for my dad's birthday. He's 60 and pretty much old school. He wanted a mojito but they didn't have fresh lime. The appeticizers came quickly and we're on the money. We all got various intensive as my dad's a sushi guy. My wife and brother got sushi with no complaints. My dad and mom got traditional Japanese food. My mom got noodles and my dad got hibachi steak. The only thing that was perfect was they included tip already. It was about 29 bucks but I would have tipped 40 if not asked. Sad time we live in. Service was great but don't subject me to a price. I will return as I had a good time.

  8. I would rate Kyoto three and a half stars.

The service during lunch time is very reliable. Our office order was delivered on time at a reasonable price without any errors. Kyoto is our go to delivery spot for Asian fusion. The bento box is a hit amongst my coworkers.
