  1. My bf always orders tortas from here and I guess I never made the connection that they were coming from this totally unassuming grocery store. The tortas are amazing! I usually get my torta with steak, cheese, avocado and jalapenos. The bread is toasted just right and the ingredients blend together perfectly. The best part is that they are open super late and deliver plus the cheap price. I finally went into the store last night and wanted to try something different besides my usual torta so the guy made me a taco with chicken mole, cheese, avocado and beans. It was absolute heaven!! I can't get over how yummy and authentic the food at this grocery store is. I totally recommend this place!

  2. I got a taco al pastor and a taco pollo asada, which came with lime wedges and a small cup of salsa verde. Everything was made fresh in front of me…I probably should have asked for queso to be added too, because while the tortillas, meat and cilantro were good, it probably would have rocked with queso.  Two tacos for $5, and any single tacos for $3…can't beat the value price.

Not sure if they always have the same guy at the counter…he understood my English perfectly (more than he probably understood my broken Spanish).  They have a proper printed menu banner above the food area now!  There were a couple small tables in the back, which were occupied when I visited, so I took the food to go.

  3. This is a nice little hole in the wall that happens to sell some excellent tacos.  I had walked by this place many many times and didn't really take any notice of it.  I read some Yelp reviews and figured I'd give it a shot.  I'm glad I did.  I highly recommend the Al Pastor. They are definitely my favorite and only $2 a each. Eat up my friends.

  4. Delicious late night tacos with a space in the back to sit down and enjoy them! Astoria is never short of its hidden taco gems, and La Cabana contributes to that fact.

I highly recommend the chorizo tacos– which are juicily packed with fat chunks of chorizo. They do take a little bit to get from the grill into your mouth, however it's very much worth the wait!

  5. Picked up lunch to go again from La Cabana.  This time, I had a chorizo taco and a pollo taco.  The chorizo will definitely be a repeat.  Maybe they up'ed the price from $2 to $2.50.  Whatever, still worth it and delish!

  6. I can't believe only 3 reviews and none in two years. Well folks, The Astoria community is missing on some outstanding Tacos.

I have been on a Quest to find some good Tacos and I think I found a gem close to home. I have lived in Astoria now for close to two years and never saw this place on 30th Ave. La Cabana is a gem of a hole in the wall. I only discovered this place because I was walking by and saw a sign for "We sell Tacos" on the window. OK, I buy Tacos. Took a menu and forgot about this place for a month.

Last Monday after Super Bowl Sunday I was feeling the jubilation of celebration and I needed some nourishment. I discover their menu and ordered 2 al pastor, 2 carne enchilada and a torta enchilada.

This comfort food hit the spot and I was able to feel the return of my buds……..

    al pastor…
The pork was moist and tasty. The tangiest of the pineapple with onion and cilantro mixture was perfectly proportion to the ratio of flavorful pork. Some salsa verde and lime I was in Taco Heaven.

    carne enchilada…
This Taco had a ton of flavor. It was tender shredded beef that was well marinated. Again with the onion and cilantro mixture, salsa verde and lime; just one delicious Taco. I tasted a slight smokiness to the beef and the corn tortilla just absorbed all the flavor.

    torta carne enchilada…
This is one great sandwich. You have a Spanish style Bread with your protein (carne enchilada) add beans, lettuce, tomato, mayo, white cheese, onion, avocado, pepper and you have one delicious sandwich. The mixture of flavors just exploded in my mouth. I had the creaminess of the mayo, avocado and white cheese with beef and bread that just exploded with more jubilation of celebration.

My fellow neighbors in Astoria, if you live within the delivery zone of La Cabana you will not go wrong. The Tacos and Tortas are OUTSTANDING. There is no seating area at La Cabana and this place is a takeout only. It is a small grocery store and I think you can order beer with your takeout order. Cash Only. If you do not speak Spanish, remember to speak slowly for phone orders. They always answer the phone with "Hola" or "Bueno". Don't think you reached the wrong place.

Great Tacos for the Astoria community………….
