Had Brandeja paisa lunch special which included a drink and consisted of rice, beans, bread, steak, plantains and chicharon. The steak was a bit dry but everything else was ok. My meal was missing the avocado. Food was ok but the portions were no huge, take home kind of portions. The waitress was nice and attentive and the atmosphere was casual dinning. It seemed to draw a lot of people to relax and enjoy their meal, people laughing having a good time. The decor was red and gold but it didn't look tacky some how, they made it work. Was it the best Colombian restaurant I've been to, no. But they offered traditional dishes at affordable prices. All in all I would come here again.
Really like the fact that La Cantera is located near all the dancing spots in Elizabeth and that it's open late.
Came here on a Saturday night after doing some dancing at Chupitos (Lounge across the street) and was very pleased with the service and the food.
I should note though, that we left the lounge before it closed–around 2:30– and when we arrived at this restaurant, we were seated immediately. After about a half hour and as we were leaving, there was a very long line (going out the door) of people waiting to get a table.
All in all, my salchi-papas were really good and the price was reasonable. My only advice if you're hungry on a late night after dancing is to get there a little earlier than 3 am, otherwise you'll be waiting a while.
