Authentic Spanish churros and hot chocolate.
Really love the feel of this place as well–very small and cozy–they don't have much seating, but it's not too bad to stand and chat with a friend while you sip the hot chocolate.
Everyone that works there is so friendly as well!
And to top it all off, the prices are GREAT.
Our group of 4 decided to eat our way around Manhattan by getting snacks and small portions at various places throughout the day. This was one of our stops.
This place sells some awesome churros! Free samples as you walk by.
YAY!!!
This place has such an adorable presence and vibe ; you can sit inside on a comfy long booth with different tables or just stop by the front window for churroa to go. The hosts were super sweet and practiced the European dining etiquette of not rushing the customers! It definitely reminded me of my favorite cafe in Cordoba, Spain.
This place serves food (sandwiches, tostadas, soup, churros) and beverages (tea, coffee, juices, Spanish beer). I got the Churro combo for 1 (5 churros , small chocolate; $6). The churros are much skinnier than I had in southern spain so they did not have that thick, chewy part and were on the crunchier side. The chocolate was very good (perfectly sweetened but the integrity of the cocoa was sound). I also got a cafe bonbon which is just espresso with condensed milk– it was very good and I liked the taste of the espresso they used.
In all, I was a bit disappointed by the thiness of the churros and left a bit unsatisfied by that. However, everything else, the chocolate, coffee, ambiance, was fab! I would come here again for those one on one meetups with friends.
I find this tiny sister restaurant of Soccarrat very endearing. I've had the churros here, which are amazing and honestly better than some I've had in Spain. The hot chocolate is also good but not outstanding. I had the mixto sandwich, which was delicious with toasty bread.
The place is usually only staffed with 1-2 servers, but I still find that the service is pretty speedy and nice. Be sure to check in on Yelp because you will get 3 free churros!
Churros were good (although paid two times more for them than I wanted). Get them in many different sizes and with different fillings/dips. I had dulce de leche and chocolate. Was very disappointed by the horchata though, which they literally just poured from a store can in a full cup of ice and charged me for it like it was latte. Service was friendly but probably wouldn't stop by again.
I wanted really really good melt-in-your-mouth, fluffy, sweet cinnamon -y churros.
I didn't get that. I got mediocre meh churros with a chocolate dip.
But I also got a Cafe Bonbon which was amazing.
The service was great.
Other people's salads and sandwiches also look great.
But, I probably wouldn't return just because there's nothing about this place that stands out to me.
Huge shout out to my boy Gino!! This guy is amazing. He is one of the best employees I've ever met. He's a young talented guy who loves to entertain and talk. He and I got to get to know each other and we learned a lot from each other.
I ordered their special Nacilla which is a Nutella filled churro with white chocolate covering and sprinkled toasted hazelnuts on top. For $5 this was worth it. I can taste the fresh & crispy texture churro with it's creamy filling and amazing crunchy outer texture. This churro was everything. I wish we had this back in the Bay Area!!!
Gino also let me test their Belgium hot chocolate shot. This was so pure. It was as if they just took a dark chocolate bar and melted it into a cup. This was exactly how it was.
Overall, I had a great experience here. They have a range of desserts, pastries, and good coffee. Please the next time you stop by in, please get service from Gino. He's a magician so please let him entertain you with card tricks. This guy makes this place go. He's a humble and well educated guy.
I will be coming back for more!
Love it!!!
They have all sorts of churros. I have only had churros in the theme parks, so comparing to that, the price is decent! And the location is great, right around where you can stop by when you shop at Soho. You can choose the flavor and they even have "center-filled" churro! Amazing right?
On top of that, the service is really good and the little place is cozy and cute.
The only thing is that they have lmt seating but they have a little take-out window so you can just order to go.
