Cuban sandwich was decent, about average and that's me being kind.
The tamale was alright…but not great. There are other choices for Cuban fare all around, this place isn't the cheapest or the best.
Not bad Cuban and Latin cheap eats. The cuban sandwich is filling and is around $5. Most of the entrees are very well priced and come with 2 sides.
Open late too!!
It's a pretty popular joint for locals (though I'm surprised I'm the first reviewer) but there are a lot of tables so seating shouldn't be a problem.
And they have churros.
YUM!
I love authentic spots and trying new stuff. I came with my friend and her boyfriend and we had the funniest server, who kept saying things like "your eyes are pretty" and "you make me nervous", LOL! I'll be sure to stop by again, probably for the baby churrasco, because that's what I had when I came here and it was delicious. My friend's boyfriend had the same thing and he ate every last thing, too.
This is hands down my favorite Latin restaurant and as a Cuban American with a grandmother that was a chef, that should tell you something! Not only is the food inexpensive, but it is excellent. The service is also exceptional.
Their best dishes: The "Arroz con moro" (Black rice and beans cooked together with small pieces of pork), their Baby Skirt Steak (nothing "baby" about it- for $15 you get enough food to feed two people!), their Bistec de Palomia, their breaded steak and if you want something "simple" get the Cuban version of a hamburger- the frita (A paprika spiced patty with shoe string potato fries, yellow mustard and white onions).
For desert- stay away from their flan, it is more like a cheesecake, but their guava with cream cheese is something different or you cant go wrong with an order of Churros (fried dough "fritters" covered in sugar), you get 10 for $1 and if you order them as take out, be sure to order two bags, because one of them wont make it out of the door!
Of course, any Cuban meal would not be complete without a cup of real Cuban coffee, which they make quite well. Whether "espresso", or cafe con leche or a cortadito (An espresso with a dash of boiled milk), you won't be disappointed if you love coffee.
Go, enjoy the food and you can thank me afterwards!
