  1. Every now and then, I like to venture into the unexplored territories and live a little… like trying food with a sanitation grade of "Pending". There's a saying– "The dirtier the place, the better the food tastes." Well, this leaves me with a 50/50 chance. Either this place is awesomely good, or I might just end up with a stomach ache. The good news is… I live to yelp another day, but the food was mediocre. Oh well, off to the next "Pending!"

  2. Ordered on seamless and was pretty satisfied.

The chicken is AWESOME. Especially the fried chicken – really juicy. Highly recommended.

The roast pernil (pork) was awesome too. Highly recommended.

The special rice is pretty decent.

The yucca is interesting and good – almost like mashed potatoes.

The fried pork strips were pretty good, but a bit dry

The Chicharron de Pollo was alright – also very dry.

Had no issues with delivery other than this place does not give ANY kind of sauce at all which is an issue with all their dry meat

  3. Just to clarify-This is in Ridgewood, not in Forest Hills.  The sign outside says Pollos A Las Brasa Aris but the menu says La Cocina de Mama.

This place is the real deal.  When you walk in you start sweating in a good way from the heat of the kitchen and the wonderful smells.  It's a festive atmosphere with Latin music playing.  Everyone eating is Latin so you know it's authentic.  There's a steam table  a la Sophie's Cuban with their daily specials and a rack of chicken roasting in the background.  Excellent roast chicken.  It doesn't even need any green sauce since it's so flavorful and it's $7 for a whole one and if asked they will cut it into 4 pieces for you.

Not only do they have Latin staples such as pernil, rice and beans, plaintains etc, they also serve mofongo, mangu and have a wide variety of seafood choices.
