La Flor Del Paraiso III
“The pernil is to die for – cooked to perfection, not too fatty, and just the right amount of crunchy skin.”
“Yucca, not bad, but could have used some more pickled onions to help with their naturally bland flavor.”

Yikes. So first off this was a seamless order. I definitely would like to actually go to the restaurant and hopefully be proven wrong. My roommates and I spent the entire first half of the day helping one roommate move out, so we were practically starved when we ordered our food. We were tempted by the 15-30 min delivery averages and ordered pretty simple items in hope of expediting the process.
The food. Woof. I ordered a simple egg and sausage sandwich. Dang – if I had had the foresight, I would have honestly made myself a cheese sandwich with wonder bread and american cheese and called it a day. The bread was soaked, the egg was dry and the sausage…well the sausage was actually turkey bacon (WHAT?!?!!).
My roommates also ordered a chicken sandwich and a burrito. The chicken in the chicken sandwich was essentially rubber. And the burrito was all rice.
Oh and it took them close to an hour to deliver this glorious meal.
The food here is very good. I just wish they were open more consistently.
I've had burritos on multiple occasions. Always good. They do a pretty mean rotisserie chicken, which is fantastic in said burrito. The guac is good, but the red sauce that they serve with chips is great. I've also been pleased with the mofongo and mangu.
Not open on Sunday though. Or on weekday evenings. It's too bad, because they make some of the best Mexican food in the hood.
Only come here if you want a good, solid Dominican/Mexican meal at a reasonable price; if you want atmosphere, this is not your spot. It's kind of half steam-table cafeteria style and half sit-down. The pernil is to die for – cooked to perfection, not too fatty, and just the right amount of crunchy skin. Served with a choice of sides, for $10, it's enough food for two. Empanadas had yummy filling, perfectly spiced. Salad was refreshing and had very fresh ingredients. I need to go back to try the roast chicken and yucca: both looked great. The owner, Elizabeth, was so warm & welcoming to us and everyone else I saw come in, regardless of ethnicity, so I don't agree with the negative reviews implicating service level equated to nationality.
