Decent cakes. Good prices. Worker as sweet as the food.

It's a small single corridor stretch with sweets on both sides, mainly the variety of huge full cakes that greet you.

Admittedly, I was a bit of a nuisance of a customer as someone indecisive about the birthday cake I wished to buy. Woman behind the counter was sweet and accommodating, letting me know her recommendations based on tastes and prices. I didn't listen to her as I should have, opting for a red velvet cake that I thought to be far too rich and sweet in both the cake and icing.

My second and third time around yielded better results as I listened to her suggestions for cannolis and simple strawberry cake that I was very pleased with.

Cake prices range from $18-25. Not bad at all for what you receive in return.

Super cute place in Astoria! Went here for the first time after being in the area for half a year. Very yummy! Only disappointment was the lack of to-go boxes. Our cake slices were squished by the time we got home 🙁

Tried the lobster tail and cannoli today and it was quite a disappointment. I am by no means an expert on Italian pastries but I can tell what I got from this place was not at all worth my money. The fried dough was soggy and the filling was a bit stale, probably from sitting in the fridge for so long. The lobster tail filling on the other hand was pretty good but the dough was way too crispy. Crispy might sound like a good thing but a good lobster tail should be flaky, not so crispy that it crunches in your mouth like chips.

Really want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was just tonight, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to give this place a chance anytime soon.

Move over Martha's, this bakery is as good as it gets. Whenever the man and I want a sweet treat we stop here. The canoli's are the best in astoria. My man loves the rainbow cookies and the gellato.

Stopping to bring home grandma some marzapan? GO NO FURTHER. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT. DELISH

Although there are other bakeries in the neighborhood this is my go to bakery in Astoria. They have consistently fresh and delicious pastries which my family enjoys. Recently I came here to get my mom a birthday cake. I was torn between the tiramisu and strawberry cheesecake. They both looked great! I went with the tiramisu ($20) because my mom would have enjoyed that more. It was a great choice. It was light and fresh. The cookies around the tiramisu still have a nice texture to them and weren't soggy from sitting in the display case.

The girls behind the counter were friendly and quick as well. I'll definitely be back either for pastries or their gelato!

OK, I am an Astoria native.  As a kid, my parents or grandparents would go to La Guli on Sundays to pick up pastries.  I also have fond memories of my grandparents walking me and my brothers and cousins there for Italian ices on hot summer days.

So, I'll admit a bit of a bias.  However, every friend I've introduced La Guli to has loved their cannoli.  Their lobster tail pastries are also very good.  Their Italian ices are very refreshing on a hot summer's day.  They come in the basic flavors (orange, cherry, mango, lemon) as well as pina colada and spumoni.  They also serve gelato, but I have never tried it.

It was my first time at this bakery. It wasn't busy at all and I was able to look around at all the desserts. A large selection of pastries, cookies and bread. I ordered a mini napoleon, a peach tart, a pineapple tart and an amaretto cheese bite. They were all fresh and delish. The staff was very attentive and nice. Hope to be back soon.

meh I made the mistake of trying the cream puffs when R&J are right there, needles to say it's just not even close, but the mini eclair was OK.
