  1. AMAZING views, absolutely gorgeous in the summer but they're trying so so hard to be as douchey as the nightclubs in the Meatpacking District. We showed up at 2.30pm on. Saturday for brunch, met our friends and the waiter says he can add 2 chairs to their table. Then the hostess says she can't do that. Okay. I understand that. Then we're told it's a 45-min wait. We walked around the restaurant and there are at least 20 empty tables that can seat our party size. Not 1 or 2, but 20 tables!!! I ask a waiter of those tables are reserved and he says no. Why make guests wait and tell us it's a 45-min wait when there are 20+ empty tables available??? And the hostess was as rude and dismissive as possible when we asked about ALL the empty tables. Maybe an amazing view but they REALLY need to hire friendlier, more efficient, non-douchey staff if they want people to come back here. Explains the 3-star rating because with better service and hostesses this place could easily get a 4-star or higher rating!

  2. If u r looking for a place to chill and kind of get out of the city…thus is the place to go. It's right outside and next to the water. Really nice view!! But I have to say it does not live up to my expectations. It was really far and hard to get to esp if u don't live on the upper west side. From where I live, in Lic it's a little over an hour.

I like the setting and layout of the place. It's a mix of indoor and outdoor area with good music. Heard they have an outdoor dj that spins on Saturday. getting to the food and drinks. I think it may be due to the fact it's almost the end of the season, pretty much all the drinks we tried to order are out..which kind of left us with maybe 4-5 options of pitchers (they have about 10 btw..) so that was a bit disappointing. Service was super slow too. We waited and waited for our drinks and water to be served. Not very attentive. Food portions were small as well. I say if u r just here for the view and a drink or 2 u will have a great time but I probably wouldn't make my way there just for that as said it's quite out of the way to get there. 3 stars in my book

  3. La Marina Restaurant.
    Off the West Side Highway.
Tucked away in a neighborhood full of auto body shops.
    Frazzled service.
    Restricted Brunch-Buffet Options.
    NOT PRICELESS.

La Marina is blessed to be right on the water and it's probably, the only slight plus looking out at the immense area of water. While it does offer nice views of The Hudson, I will be frank to mention, that there are simply other restaurants that ups the ante in the absolute, total, package. But on a more positive note, the enjoyment factor would have to be, dining al fresco on the patio. Which I did not experience due to gloomy weather in the morning and no one expecting the day to be beautiful. Indoors will suffice for now.

Buffet Brunch food items were very disorganized in a way that nothing meshed. Heads up, La Marina doesn't include any scrambled eggs in warmers- and if you want your egg protein, Omelette Station is the only stop- which can take at least 5-10 minutes waiting on line. Don't. Like. It. In short, very disconnected. To put it bluntly, quality and taste, were both mediocre. Not horrible. Just unexciting.

Our server was quite friendly. But there's a definite problem here, either with training or adequate staffing, but I can't go past the 3 stars, because of the absolute lack of professionalism when it comes to service.  I really like returning to restaurants and giving them the benefit of the doubt the second time around, and venture with what else La Marina would have to offer– and I will. I would love to sit outdoors, enjoy The Hudson and just looking at the lushness of Palisades Park.

But then again, would it get any better than this? I sure hope so. La Marina just missed the elegant mark- for Brunch that is. Tasteful in interior design? Absolutely! But sadly, I believe that La Marina has dull pretensions and exists only on hype. And quite honestly, there are other waterfront restaurants that offer more sophistication.

  4. I was having brunch in midtown and decided to check this place afterwards. The place was pretty crowded and everyone seem to be having a great time. We head to the bar and grab some drinks, the bartender was quick and moved the crowded at a great pace. The drinks were well made and I'm glad because they aren't cheap.
After about half and hour we found an empty table and ordered some hookah. Now that was a disappointment, the hookah was super weak and you have to pay extra to get charcoal refills. That in itself I found crazy but I guess that's their policy.
They play great music and the vibe is very sexy.
Parking in this area it's horrible so if you don't have to drive don't.

  5. My partner loves to relax waterside. La Marina was the perfect venue for it.

The good: Of course, the view. Gorgeous. The service and food is usually pretty good too.

The bad: Ka-ching! This place was the catalyst for the rise in prices in Dyckman. Drinks are pricey and so are some of the dishes. The food prices to seem to swing (between lower-priced starters to higher-priced mains) but when you factor quantity and quality, they are about the same.

The ugly: During the warmer months, it's like a MTV Spring Break session here. There is nto only the restaurant but the marina, the beach, the rentals, the docks, and the concert/dance area. It can get loud, ratchet (patted down and wanded just to enter), and packed here – which can kill the gorgeous serene view. One of the last times we stopped in, we were continuously blinded from the waterfront because they were testing strobes and spotlights by the beach area. Ugh.

You just have to know what you're walking into. They try to advertise events on their website so keep up so that you're aware.

  6. The one-liner:
La Marina is perfect for summertime brunching and chilling with friends.

    Recommendations:
    – The View – By coming here, you already made a wise decision in seeing the gorgeous views of the Hudson River and the NY skyline.
    – Food – The menu isn't crazy and you won't go wrong with most of the choices, however, the food isn't the best thing you ever ate so lower those expectations.

    The story:
I came here two weeks before the end of their season (they're only open from April to the end of August) and the weather was perfect. I definitely suggest visiting this place only when the weather is nice since it's more of an outdoor venue. Since my friend was late, I decided to have a Bloody Mary which was made exactly the way I like it – spicy. They also have a small craft beer menu if cocktails and brunch drinks aren't for you.

My friend and I chose to sit outside which wasn't too hot since the tables are covered by umbrellas. I ordered the chicken and waffles which was good but not the best I've ever had. I think a lot of the food is good here but falls short of spectacular.

  7. This place has an amazing view, and that is in my opinion enough to try it once.
The terrace on the Hudson is super cool, especially when the weather is nice.
The Marina has several places to eat and drink and even – if I correctly remember, a sandy place used as a kind of club towards the end of the day.
The bouncers are impressive but we went in okay.
Prices a little bit expensive for the neighborhood. Service so-so. Food ok.

  8. *yuca benedict (omg, this was horrendous; the eggs were poached for too long; the yuca croquettes were sooo weird. They were gummy and chewy, I had to dip them in the honey maple syrup sauce that came with my boyfriend's chicken and waffles to be able to finish the croquettes. the salad next to the eggs was nothing spectacular and wasn't dressed properly; they should have tossed the salad around in the dressing instead of just drizzling it on the plate)

Let's start with the bar by the entrance. The bartender didn't know what frozen drink was in the mixer. He poured me a sample and I didn't like it but he didn't even bother to ask me if I wanted anything else. The service in the dining area was decent. It was a little slow but can't complain too much about that. The food was horrible. Never will I ever want to eat there again. However, I think the party atmosphere is there so I would gladly go back for a drink or just to hang out. But this place is fuckin far and out of the way so the event better be worth it. lol
