  1. The paletas at La Newyorkina was the cherry on top of my stroll around The High Line.

Be warned, this is a cash-only establishment! My bf and I scrambled to find enough change, and luckily we had enough to purchase one paleta. We settle on the cafe con leche, which was a great choice: Rich, creamy, and with the right amount of sweetness. Perfect for a nice, warm walk around the park early in the day.

They do offer some interesting flavors, which I hope I'll get to try the next time I'm at The High Line. I just need to be better at carrying cash with me.

  2. A must have while walking the high line!! Skip all those other vendors, this is the real deal! I got the lime and cucumber paleta and it gave me the energy to walk the whole high line twice on a 90 degree day!!! Cash only/the flavors are always changing, but you probably already knew that from the other reviews.

  3. Yeah, yeah, $4 a pop is expensive, but it's New York, and you pay a tax to cross the street, so does this really surprise anyone?

No? Good. Now, let's get to the ice pops…Those rich, creamy, refreshing blocks of Mexican flavorness. Licking one on a hot summer day is like finding meaning in a world of chaos–especially if you're licking the Coconut Passionfruit.

Nirvana, thy name is La Newyorkina.

  4. 3.3 stars!

Refreshing popsicles for a hot day after a nice walk on the High Line! 🙂

    Fun and unique flavors!

  5. Oh baby!
Picture it: It's July. It's hot. Like Africa hot. You're on a elevated platform you are closer to the suns heat rays. Some lady walks by you eating a huge BBQ sammy in the heat. (Um ewww)
All you're thinking is water, something to cool down.

Then like a shimmering mirage, you see the La Newyorkina cart.
    With no line!

    They have some crazy flavors:
    Cucumber Lime
    Blueberry with Mint
    Watermelon
The menu always changes, there are too many flavors to mention.

I see the sign that says: Cash Only
and I ask, American Express ok? (I'm a kidder)

The cutie lady in the hat gives me change, a two dollar bill??
I start joking with her, man… what type of Monopoly Money did you print this morning??

We laugh, I get my ice pops and we're on our way.

Cool down with a $4 ice pop from La Newyorkina. Its a NYC thing and the ices are made with love.

  6. Don't expect a creamy ice pop!!! if you are looking for that move along

This place totally kicked the spot. The day was looking like a young J-Lo: kind of hot, but pretty gross. After hours of walking I was feeling pretty tired. Then we found a ice pop stand making a play of words with the usual ice pop shop in Mexico (la michoana) and we decided to try it out. It was fantastic

I had the hibiscus (jamaica) ice pop and it was perfect. Not very sweet and refreshing. We also tried the lime and cucumber ice pop, also very fresh.  The pineapple pop was perfect with the chili powder they provide.

I was tempted to go back and have seconds.

  7. I always get caught up at the eating area of the High Line because there are so many food/dessert vendors there. Don't give in though! You might want to pick up some gelato or people's pop, but wait till you try the homemade popsicles La Newyorkina has to offer!

I passed by today and picked up a nectarine and cucumber lime with my boyfriend. They're $3/$4, which is expensive. But you're paying around the same price for other ice creams/popsicles around the area anyways. The cucumber lime is a long time favorite. My boyfriend lives around the area and used to have a punch card (last summer) for all the cucumber lime popsicles he bought. Too bad they don't have that punch card anymore. This is the first time I am trying the nectarine and I really enjoyed it. Super refreshing, sweet, and has bits and pieces of fruit inside as well.

Can't wait to try some new flavors next time I'm around.

  8. I forgot what flavors I had here but I do recall finishing it fast because it was very refreshing and it was perfect for the hot weather. It's a tad expensive but what do you expect at a Tourist location, in the summer and in NYC.
