They sent the food to my old address, instead of the one sent to them through Grubhub. The grouchy delivery guy screamed at me, as if it's my fault. Awesome. As soon as I took the first few bites, I knew something was up, and threw the food out immediately. A few hours later, I'm hit with a righteous case of gnarly food poisoning. As much as I'm enjoying writhing around in pain, desperately sipping on some Gatorade, it's not worth it. Please, just don't. For your reference, I ordered both regular food and sushi.
My go to lunch spot in the neighborhood for Japanese food. I've been to Asia Kan down the block and this place had better quality food and ambience. I've also ordered for delivery and it's just as tasty and comes very quick. I highly recommend the shrimp teriyaki bento box!
I thought the food here was pretty decent… the prices were a bit high… the staff was as to be expected…
My friend though… yeah… she spent the night on the toilet…
Came here for a birthday dinner for one of my classmates tonight. 12 of us altogether! They put two tables together to accommodate us. Besides my party, there were a few smaller tables of two. The manager? owner was really friendly. He recommended sake to the guys and allowed one of them to sample. For dinner, most of us got 2-3 sushi rolls + appetizer (soup or salad). One person ordered the sushi box – from what I saw, the box was huge. We also got a few orders of gyoza and Asian stir fried to share.
I personally ordered the steamed scallop with mixed veggie + garlic sauce + brown rice on the side. Nothing to write home about – the scallop tasted like scallop, not the freshest but what I expect from Chinese (fusion) restaurant (the place is actually run by Fujinese (Chinese)) The sauce was however flavorful – garlic-ky and not too oily. Really glad i got it on the side tho so my food was not drenched. I tried my friend's duck salad – very typical Thai flavor (lots of basil) but overly salted. I also had a bite of my friend's dragon roll which was also nothing special. They tried hard to keep refilling my glass of water but never took away the empty plates. Overall though, the service was pretty good. At the end of the meal, they brought out a surprised giant ice cream sundae with candles + sang happy birthday to my friend. They also helped us light another birthday cookie cake by bringing out the clicking lighter for the stove. The total for 12 of us ended up being around 380 including tax and tip.
Very unmemorable dining experience but hey the service was decent and their menu is extensive enough that all of us were able to pick something to eat. A decent stop for a midweek celebratory meal!
if you stay away from the sushi menu, you will be a okay.
nowhere near authentic, but everything else is decent for asian food outside of chinatown…
So I have only tried the Chinese food, so I can't comment on the Vietnamese/Japanese/Thai options. But for Chinese delivery food, this place is great! It's not haute cuisine, so if you are expecting some amazing, authentic Chinese food… you might be disappointed. But if you just have a yen for some good old Americanized Chinese food, this is the place. Delivery is fast, and all of the dishes we tried (egg drop soup, egg rolls, vegetable fried rice, crispy sesame chicken, noodles with peanut sauce) were good. It's the best Chinese food I have had in the Manhattan Valley/Morningside Heights/Harlem area. And it's a huge plus that they will deliver to us all the way in Harlem. I am definitely going to order from this place in the future!
Skip it, seriously.
EXTREMELY greasy, bad tasting food. I have never had to throw out a tray of food because it was so gross…but this place definitely got me to do so.
I ordered the mushroom and tofu lunch special. The mushrooms were inedible! They looked like old, shriveled up and amputated vajayjay lips! How unappetizing. So I figured, okay…I'll pick around the mushrooms and just eat the tofu…nope. This tofu must have been aged for longer than I have…because it crumbled as soon as I stabbed it with my fork. NOTHING in this dish had any texture. It was all loose lips and crumby bits. Blech.
Alas, I had also ordered their crunchy vegetable roll…perhaps this would be my savior! However, they were way too greasy to enjoy.
The miso soup was ok. And I enjoyed the ginger dressing with the salad.
Delivery took less than an hour, which I appreciated…But the food was absolutely disgusting. I will never order from here again, sorry Ozen!
When my boyfriend & I don't feel like going out to eat, Ozen is our go-to for delivery! We've ordered from here no less than a dozen times (but have never gone to the actual restaurant).
Depending on our level of hunger, we more or less order the same thing every time. My favorite dishes are Pad Thai (either chicken or tofu) and the Steamed Shumai appetizer. He sometimes switches it up with Crispy Duck, Sweet & Sour Chicken, or good ol' General Tzo's. Recently he ordered Beef Teriyaki, which was delicious but really strong on the onions (My only complaint would have to be those onions, but I'm not sure if the blame should be placed on the restaurant or on him). We love the Satay appetizer too, and any time we've ordered Sushi & Sashimi, we've been satisfied.
There's online ordering, really fast delivery, and the food is consistent and delicious. The portions are huge (there are always leftovers for the next day). No matter what type of Asian food we're craving, Ozen takes care of it.
