If I had read these reviews here, I would not picked this place for Saturday lunch.
I stumbled across this street with my friend who was craving for pasta, so we came here. Even though it was a Saturday lunch time, this place was emply. Gosh, I should have had a doubt of the quality and reputation of this place..
We ordered lunch special where we could choose a small salad and main course (pasta, burger, panini, etc).
The caesar salad? too much salad dressing, too salty!
We got spaghetti marinara and penne with vodka sauce. The worst I've ever had. The penne was floating on the watery pink vodka sauce. Not to mention spaghetti marinara.
I wonder how this place could pay its rent and maintain the business here. It must make net loss every month, I'm pretty sure.
Against better judgement, we stopped in here on a Friday night b/c all of the other places had a wait. I guess this is when I know I'm getting old, b/c I really didn't want to wait for a table. We looked at the menu and there was a nice variety, and it seemed like it was going to be fine.
Once we were inside, I check Yelp. Yes, stupid me. I know. I told the boy there was still time to jump ship, but he was determined to "prove us Yelpers wrong". So I went along with it. I mean, how bad can they eff' up pasta?
The service was friendly and the wine was fine. But the pasta, was, well. Well let's just say I can cook better pasta at home. And anyone that's ever tasted my pasta knows that it always is hard or watery (yup, I can't cook pasta). The bread was stale and tasteless too. And, the Stella tasted like piss water. The tap was definitely dirty.
I did enjoy the 90's techno hits being played. Both of us thought we were at a rave? It was quite odd.
So yeah, the Yelpers win yet again….
I almost always check Yelp before I eat somewhere, and if I had done that for this place I probably wouldn't have eaten here. It's right by my apartment though and the lunch special sounded good so my husband and I thought we'd give it a try. I wasn't disappointed but not WOWed either. I had the house salad and spaghetti with meat sauce. The tea I had was just your basic Lipton, I wish they would try to make a little more special and give you a couple options. My husband had the ceasar salad and Meatball sub. He was a little annoyed though the meatball sub was served with a little salad on the plate (you only need so much salad right?). I'm not sure how quickly I'll be back with so many other Italian options in the area.
I was hanging out with a couple of friends in the Village looking for a place to eat and one suggested we come here since he really liked it. When I went to check in I got really nervous by the rating here but what could I do?
We were greeted nicely and quickly taken to a table. It was after 8pm on a Sat night and only a few tables were taken, this worried me. To start, we were brought a few slices of uninviting, cold bread in a basket for 3 people. I looked over the menu and decided on the linguini w/ white clam sauce. One friend got the Mixed Grill Combo app and the other Chicken Parm. A short time later our entrees arrived. My full bowl of Pasta Vongole was nice and hot and smelled good. As I stirred it up I found it was a bit thick leading me to believe the sauce and loose clams came from a can. However, it tasted better than I expected, pretty good but nowhere near great. The Mixed Grill was quite a large portion of chicken, hanger steak, pork tenderloin, served with sauteed onion, mushroom, and pepper which she said was really good. My other friend also enjoyed his chicken parm.
We skipped dessert and just headed out. Service was very kind and efficient. Prices are decent and so are the portions. Overall it was a good visit although with so many wonderful places around, I doubt I will ever be back.
