What a truly unique and quaint bistro this is. It appeals to my romantic side. (All that's missing is the man I want the romance with!)
I have eaten here only three times, but each time I return, it just gets better. Other mother and I came here Friday evening. We had a glass of Cabernet and pate with most wonderful french bread to start.
The last time we were here we ordered the mussels, which were delightful, and we were thinking of a replay, but the special happened to be a seafood boullebaise cooked with fennel. It took a lot of restrain for me to not lick the remains of the bowl after eating all but the shells from the fish, after all, I am not savage!! To accompany that we shared a roasted beat salad which was dressed to perfection.( I cannot stand when people overdress salad and you have over saturated soggy greens.) The grand finale was poached pear with slivered almonds and a scoop of French Vanilla ice cream. Sheer perfection, not to mention present and attentive service without being overbearing. Five stars indeed!!!
Came for lunch and had the mussels and croque monsieur. The croque was ok. Mussels were disappointing. I ordered a full order and when the pot came, it wasn't full. And there were beards so not quite as tasty. Bread was decent. The fries were so so.
And I noticed several flies around the restaurant so am guessing they leave the back door open perhaps. There was a slight odor when we walked in so am guessing they just opened and were airing out the room.
Love this place, and it never disappoints. My girlfriend and I have been there a few times. It's too bad they don't serve the filet mignon anymore, we sure miss it! Anyway, on Friday night, I ordered the roquefort burger and a belgian ale, both were absolutely amazing. My girlfriend had the filet of sole, which was also really good. However, she opted for a glass of the malbac, which was terrible. The waitress could tell that she didn't like it and it was so bad, she gave here a glass of bordeaux, free of charge. The staff is really great and always attentive. We will continue to go back!
I went to La P'tite Framboise a few weeks ago and I have to say, this place is not the greatest. The selection was mediocre and the service was pretty slow. They have a good beer menu though!
A better suggestion would be to dine at Chez Noelle, also in Port Washington.
Excellent service paired with excellent food and drinks? My kinda place:)
I might add that is review is solely based on their food for private events. My family recently used this venue for a private party of about 40 people and everything went even better than expected.
For starters, the waitstaff is extremely attentive with drink orders and made sure everyone in our party had something to eat and drink at all times. The bloody Marys were a huge hit with our group! More than a few left happy and tipsy. While we had open bar there were also waiters who refilled orders and who constantly made sure everyone was happy.
– The starters that were served were my personal favorites, they bring out lovely toast points with an assortment of tuna tartar, cheese and pâte. The fresh rolls are also a crowd pleaser, everyone enjoyed the rolls and butter
– For the first course, their French onion soup is a winner. It was probably the best I've ever had, creamy and delicious without being too rich.
– The entrees offered included pumpkin ravioli, seared salmon, steak and a chicken dish. No complaints were heard, all dishes were presented beautifully and the ravioli was particularly good.
I highly recommended this place for anyone trying to host an event in the Long Island area. The owners truly work with what you like and try to accommodate any request. I'll now definitely be coming back just for a nice dinner since I know that this place is solid.
This was the first time i had come to this restaurant. What brought me here was that my favorite french restaurant (Bistro Toulouse located just down the road) had closed.
Overall my experience was mediocre at best. My waitress looked like she was more concerned with the other tables than mine and i actually had to ask her if it was ok for me to order. For my appetizer i had the crab salad with avocado. It was fairly good, but was brought to my table less than 2min after ordering. That made me feel apprehensive but it was tasty. My sliced duck entree was perfectly cooked, but unfortunately lacked the flavor i sought. I had the apple tart with dulce de leche for a dessert. the ice cream was great, but the apple tart was one step above a mcdonalds hot apple pie.
I really wanted my experience to go a little better than it did, but it just didn't happen on the first go around. The taste and flavor of the food did not justify the price they charged and honestly i am lamenting the loss of Bistro Toulouse more after this visit to their nearby competitor. I will be sure to give them another try though and sample some other things on their menu.
Good neighborhood spot with friendly service. Been a number of times and dependably good. Tonight had special Pork Shank, which was terrific. This is not something I see on menus, and pork is often tough, but this was fall off the bone tender and had a delicious sauce to accompany.
Looking for solid go to staples in our new 'hood, we walked into LPF with no expectations.
The space was cozy with some booths and more tables scattered amongst the room. The staff was young but seem to know their stuff. We walked in with no reservation and was still promptly seated.
I loved the complimentary pate and butter given with the crusty french baguette basket. Nice start to our meal for sure. Tried to order the tart flambe but apparently they weren't offering that night…ok…so opted for the escargot. We both felt that there was too much parsley in the garlic butter mix. Still the snails weren't overcooked. When I try a new french place I like to order the poulet roti my first time dining there. I feel like you can tell a lot by how they execute this dish. Sadly it wasn't memorable…some parts were dry why other parts of the half chicken didn't seemed cooked through. My dinner partner had the hanger steak frites and he enjoyed it immensely. Service was very good and attentive. Will give this place another try and update. But for now it's a solid 3 for me…
