Attended a wedding last night here and all I can say is oy. Ceremony was scheduled to start at 7 and due to a wardrobe malfunction it was a little late to start. Obviously not the venues fault but what was their fault was that there was not sufficient seating for the ceremony. Furthermore, ambiance was not so great unless of course ur idea of romance is hearing the trucks drive by on the highway behind you as couples exchange their vows…
After the ceremony we had to wait outside the cocktail hour room because they weren't ready for us yet? What?? How is that possible when the ceremony was running late anyway? To make matters worse there was no access to the bar during this time so all of us were literally standing in the hallway crammed like cattle.
Cocktail hour was decent. Eggplant rolatini was very good and worth noting. Lamb chops were also good and very juicy. Raw bar, cheese station, olives, pasta station, antipasto, and salads made for a nice range of foods. Again not enough seating for all the guests (I hate when venues do this!).
Onto the dinner portion. There was a seating mixup and someone arranged 11 people to our table which was definitely not possible. My fiancé and parents and I stood around like shmucks while someone "looked into it". We ended up just joining a different table on or own.
Finally the dinner food itself was your typical disappointing wedding entree and what was worse was that we got served at 1130 at night. Seriously? Our table was literally falling asleep waiting for our meal. Vianese room for deserts was nice but it was almost 1 am at this point. Such poor timing. As a bride to be, this place will unfortunately not be somewhere I would consider for my big day. Hopefully they work on their timing and improve the experience for future guests.
Went here yesterday 9/7/13 for a surprise birthday party for a family member.
The staff was very accommodating and friendly. There was plenty of food, with included an antipasto bar, pasta, sausage & peppers, chicken francaise, a carving station of roast beef.
This restaurant is located on 40 Wood Avenue in Secaucus in the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel. It has many rooms for parties of it seems any size.
We had a party of about 45 people and everyone was quite pleased with the food and the service. I had previously been here several years ago at my wife's 20th high school reunion and it seems the quality has not changed, it is still very good.
They also have the separate restaurant which we are looking forward to trying in the near future.
Came for a baby shower in the Queen room. The room was small but comfortable for a smaller party around 100 people. Parking was easy and there is valet available.
The party had a buffet set up. Everything was really delicious and fresh. The buffet was a mix of appetizers and main dishes. I loved the grilled veggies, pasta and chicken francaise.
Service was a little lacking. In the beginning of the night, some people at my table had to go to the bar next doir and pay for drinks because there were no servers available. The food made up for it and when the servers were around they were attentive.
Decent coffee and delicious Italian Rainbow cookies!!
At the end we peeked into the restaurant/bar to check it out. I cannot express how much this place reminded us of old time Italian New Jersey. It felt life a scene from Goodfellas, like a time warp….in a very cool way!
The banquet section does a great job. I have attended a lot of functions here and everything is always done very well. The food presentations are done well. Buffets are set up very nicely with a mix of salads, breads, appetizers and main dishes. Food quality has been consistently good.
Staff are also pleasant and accomodating. They clean the tables quickly and keep glasses full.
This Italian restaurant is located inside the Meadowlands Plaza hotel in Secaucus. Normally I avoid hotel dining, but our usual Thai restaurant was closed last night (they must have headed to the beach with everyone else for the Memorial Day weekend), and this restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. The vibe here is not particularly modern, but more of a country Italian decor, with a warm gold color on the walls, green marble floors, white tablecloths and comfortable seating. The menu is a mix of the familiar and new, with classic Italian dishes such as Eggplant Parmesan and Chicken Marsala sharing menu real estate with more interesting dishes, like the wonderful Linguine Nero that I enjoyed. This dish features calamari, mussels and clams in a light tomato sauce served over squid ink linguine with fresh arugula. They make the linguine in house, and it was good, although cooked a little further than al dente. The seafood was fresh and yummy, and the simple tomato sauce was a perfect complement to the other ingredients. Doug had the chicken marsala, and was impressed with the lightness of the marsala sauce, although he said the chicken was a touch overdone. We weren't particularly hungry, so skipped salads, apps, drinks and desserts, but I will return and try more, as the food here is very good. Other than one other couple and a few people eating in the bar, we were alone here, but there is no one in town this weekend, so I think this was not a usual Saturday night here. Service is very good, and they will certainly not rush you…we had to ask for the check, even though it was clear that we were done, but we've encountered this at other fine dining establishments, and this place is old school. so this was not a service gaff. They have some large tables here, so bring a crowd and enjoy some delicious Italian food.
