This is definitely my favorite kind of food: homemade, mom and pop, fast, cheap. In this case, it's a young woman ("the mother-in-law of Dyckman") and her husband serving up authentic Mexican food from a few large containers being heated on a flattop hotplate fresh to order. They park their cart in front of Cachapas Y Mas, and I discovered them when walking by in the extreme cold yesterday, battling the heavy winds for a couple of tacos and a couple of tamales… For $10, I had two meals, first a beef taco and a pork taco (which were gigantic, and covered with a dozen wonderful toppings), then a couple hours later a chicken tamale and a pork tamale and a jalapeno with cheese tamale (covered in their fantastic green sauce and red sauce)… The food is great, the service is especially warm and welcoming and grateful, and I cannot wait to return again!
