“I went for lunch with my trusty food companion and special PIC and ordered the Kra Prao Moo Krob and the Guay Thiew Tom Yum.”
“Much like Zabb Elee in the East Village, the food here is extremely flavorful but a little salty (but that may just be my tastebuds).”
“Som Tum Muar Zuar Salad (papaya salad with shrimp and bbq pork) – this is my favorite papaya salad.”

My meal was served quickly and efficiently. I had a Pad Ped Goon (sp?) shrimp dish. It was a little spicy in a good way and very flavorful. I thought there were some spices I had not had before in my dish. The result was it tasted authentic. The serving sizes were on the smaller side but the prices were not high so it was a fair value in my book. They do a very brisk take out business here and it looked like more meals were going out that way than inside. I was here for dinner. This restaurant would be good for lunch or a casual dinner like the one I had. They have beer and wine and their prices were decent and the selection average. I would say this is Thai done well. I was happy I came.
Came in for lunch on a rainy Friday. A lot of people did the same thing, and I can understand why! The food was extremely tasty, and the lunch menu was a good bang for your buck.
Menu was a bit hard to understand for someone that not very in to Thai food. But, the vegetable Pad Ke Mao was great!
Interior is not to fancy, this place is all about the food.
Very tasty place ! At first, I thought the portions were small until I started eating. I got the Moo.. pork with jasmine rice. It was exactly as described in the ingredients:water chestnuts, onion, cilantro, mint…etc. literally a burst of flavor with every chew !!
We didn't order much, but if im in the area would go here again.
Watch out whthey ask for rice, its additional!
Quality has gone down significantly, and you can tell the spices, flavor, care into the dishes is no longer there. I kept on trying this place hoping it was a fluke until it's gone down low enough that it's not even worth trying anymore – but thought I should update the review in hopes that quality might improve. For now though, I'd rather uber cross town to LES for some real Larb.

But their lunch specials range from $8+
I looked around for lunch near my office and came across this with quite some nice reviews, to be honest though, I think Thai food is generally good, most Thai restaurants are run by nice people, and they serve from a beer & wine bar to a full bar. Larb Ubol is a smaller space with dark color wooden tables, some couches and chairs, with a decent waiting area for take-out.
I knew I wanted Pad See Ew with veggies and of course, how could they not serve a good Pad See Ew right? It's a decent portion for $8, would be nice if it came with more veggies, mine had a few pieces of mushrooms and Chinese brocoli, a few thin shredded carrots, the sauce was slightly too sweet, but it was stir-fried perfectly with egg and brown sauce.
I asked for a small portion of Tom Yum Soup, unfortunately they only serve large portions, so I ended up having a Thai Iced Tea, I generally love it but I just really wanted something spicy with my sweet Pad See Ew.
Another little disappointment was they don't serve Mango Sticky Rice…I know some restaurants don't serve mango but I'd take 2 servings of Sticky Rice… 🙁
Maybe I ordered the wrong things but this place didn't impress me. Came by for lunch and it was super busy and they had us seated at the bar at first but then moved us to a table which was nice. Ordered off the lunch menu and had the larb salad and a stir fry of pork and chinese broccoli over rice. The larb was really salty so it was hard to place other flavors beyond that. The pork and veggies didn't leave a huge impression either–the pork was tough and dry but the flavors were good. Just enough sauce to be good with the rice.
I'd recommend getting the other dishes based off the other reviews raving about this place. Maybe it was the lunch rush and what I ordered but not even close to being on the list of best Thai food I've had.
This place isn't bad. Don't let the looks fool you, they take much more pride in their dishes than their decor.
I had the Pad See Ew and it was really good! I was weary just judging by the unkempt look of the place, but the dish was very flavorful and tasted authentic. The service is fast and delightful. Beware – portions are big, so you can definitely share! Great for a casual group dinner night and in a great area!
Solid food.
Came here last night for a late dinner with a friend. We didn't realize the place was going to close in 25 min until after we sat down and took a look at the menu. It seemed pretty busy …took like 10 minutes for someone to finally come to our table. We asked the server if it's okay we can still order food and eat here since it was already 9:45, but luckily she said it would still be okay.
We ordered a dish of red snapper (medium spicy) and 1 chicken pad thai to share and I ordered a thai iced tea (love this stuff).
Didn't expect too much from the fish but surprisingly it was really good! Lots of flavor and the seasoning was just right. The fish was pretty big too, enough for 2 people. I recommend getting that! I always get pad thai when I go to thai restaurants so it was good that we got at least 1 new dish to try.
My friend said the pad thai here isn't that good, but despite that …I still ordered it and honestly it was pretty good…no complaints
Only thing I didn't like about my experience last night was the loudness…. it was really loud last night. I kept talking about stuff to my friend who was sitting right in front of me, but he kept telling me he couldn't hear me. I literally had to shout when I spoke because it was that loud.
