What is this place, even? We ended up here in desperation after 2 other Mexican restaurants we tried in the area were closed for renovation and vacation. At 2pm on a Sunday, the bar area was super dark with club lights flashing. There were 4 people sitting at the bar who looked surprised to see us and we were re-directed to an upper level. While the restaurant area is elevated there's no real separation between it and the bar, so when the DJ turned the volume up even more after we ordered, it was impossible to think, much less talk. Guacamole is available by request (it's not on the menu). It's made fresh but under-seasoned, needed lime and salt. My frozen margarita on the other hand was basically a mouthful of salt, so poorly made that I had to send the first one back. If you're used to the Portuguese. Brazilian, and Spanish places in Newark or Union City, these portions are laughably small. 1/2 rack of ribs is usually 4-5, not 2 ribs. The only waitress spoke no English. NONE. We had to twice ask another patron to come over and translate because she didn't understand what we wanted. Tl;dr: music too loud, language barrier, stingy servngs, poorly made drinks. No thanks.
