Went here after a funeral with the family. The waiters were very attentive and got us drinks any time we needed. The food was good. Started us off with penne ala vodka. Very good. Then a Cesar salad followed buy a very tasty chicken Marsala. I defiantly left full and satisfied by the service.
The food here is AMAZING!
My family was here on a Tuesday night and we were the only other people in the restaurant side. This should not be!! My meal was fantastic!
The pasta that I had, Cavatelli Misto Mare, was comparable to dishes I've had in Italy. It is fresh made cavatelli with shrimp, calamari, scallops, capers, vodka tomato sauce, and touch of cream. The portion was extremely large and it was only $12.95, which is pretty good for all that seafood!
The service was ok, and I don't really think that the decor is anything to get up and arms over for a place in North Arlington, NJ. The focus is the fresh made pasta!
I never really do Italian, as I've said in other reviews, because I have it at home, I've been to Italy, and nothing ever tastes really authentic when I go to the restaurant, but I dream of this Cavatelli Misto Mare from time to time. I must make a trip back sometime!
Went here last night for dinner, Driven by hundreds of times and finally tried it for the first time. I had the Beef Carpaccio to start and my fiancee had the mussels. Wow the sizes of these app's were enough to feed 4 people let alone 2.
I had the special with Chicken, port wine sauce, with sundried tomatoes and mushrooms. So good. Greg had the Veal stuffed with Ricotta and another cheese in a brown sauce. It look amazing and he said it was good. Service was a little slow at first, but they were very busy for a Thursday evening. But they were very attentive and ensured that my mean would be Gluten Free since I have Celiacs. I will come back and try it again.
If you're of a certain age living in the area this will always be The Jade Fountain. (Even the old-timers still reference it as "Where the Jade used to be…" – but for my money Wing-Haun in Harrison was the better place to hit for Chinese. But I digress…)
A few other places gave it a go since the Jade days which I never bothered with but after hearing a lot of good stuff about Lassoni (one being it's the same owners as Gelone's down the road which is another great Italian restaurant) – we finally went to check it out.
Fresh ravioli (since I was a kid it's always been 6-per-portion and I guess some things never change), the cavetelli misto mare, the Chicken Francese (for the kids)… everything was really well done and deceptively filling.
Complimentary focaccia, a liquor license (unlike Gelone's) and a friendly and attentive staff (they came like a swarm of bees to clean our table right after dinner) – all adding to an enjoyable night out.
Recommended.
Came here thru rec and made a reservation as u must do with most nj rest. The decor is not inventive as all reviewers have indicated. Servers r running around as its busy. Some r better than others but they all try their best to tend to the customers. Didn't enjoy sitting so close to the door as it was a little chilly.
They offer a LOT o specials. The list just keeps on going. We tried crab cakes, salmon cakes, shrimp with arugula and blueberry salad, and veal. All were tasty and normal portioned. I'm not getting the beyond portion size that some reviewers have referred to prob cuz we didn't order pasta. Everything tasted good and was served in reasonable time frame. For dessert, we tried the toasted almond cake which was good.
Overall found it to be very reasonably priced for tasty meal.
