  1. Very quaint restaurant in Prospect/Crown Heights area. Charming mismatched seats, natural wood tables, banquette seating along the window and good iced coffee.

Food was slightly disappointing. I had the egg scramble and duck bacon – loved the duck bacon but honestly this doesn't differ from a $2 meal i can make at home. My friend ordered the kitchen sink scramble and there was certainly a lot of veggies in it, but a majority of them felt like filler veggies (i.e. cauliflower versus mushrooms or zucchini or other more prime veggies). I'd come back just for coffee but will likely get an actual breakfast meal somewhere else.

  2. I went here once a few weeks ago to spend a few hours drinking coffee and working. I'd gotten a recommendation from a friend, but I was pretty disappointed in how pricey their breakfast sandwiches were.

Don't get me wrong — the sandwich was delicious and the coffee was pretty good. But the sandwich wasn't worth the over $9 I spent on it.

The place wasn't very busy, so I stayed for a few hours, but for some reason I wasn't super cozy here like I am in a lot of other coffee shops, like Manhattanville. I was pretty underwhelmed and being here was a pretty forgettable experience. The staff was kind, The atmosphere here is nice, and the colors are soothing, but something about it just kind of makes me feel like the whole place is so-so, and the price of the food didn't make me too excited to make plans to return.

I walk past this place a lot but I don't really feel compelled to go back inside. Sorry, Lazy Ibis.
    🙁

  3. I came in on a cold winter afternoon because I was suffering from cabin fever and just wanted to lay eyeballs on a different set of walls than the ones in my apartment.  I went over with my laptop and a craving for hot coffee and some lunch.  Inside, they have a few tables with most of them taken by other folks with laptops.  I was able to snag a prime spot on the bench just behind the fishtank.

I ordered the Bison Burger and a cup of coffee.  The coffee came hot and steamy with a great caffeine kick.  The best part of it was that when I got distracted by my burger and the coffee cooled down, it still tasted good*!  As for the bison burger, it was on the dry side as it was cooked well-done (they didn't ask for a preferred temperature) but the flavors were really quite good!  A really lean meat patty that was topped with thinly sliced apples and spicy pepperjack cheese sandwiched between a homemade BISCUIT!  The biscuit alone is worth going back for – I highly recommend coming in just for that.

I settled in with my wifi password and got down to work (surfing the internet).  The ambiance was pretty mellow with some 90s top 40s hits playing in the background (I watched a guy singing along to Mariah Carey and the sunlight coming in through the big windows in the front.  I was a bit cold and the seats were a bit hard for it to be considered cozy but overall, a pleasant experience.

    * Cold coffee tastes similar to the way BO smells.  To me.

  4. Cool spot. Especially loved their delicious latte and the great food options for vegetarians. All the no laptop signs indicate that people like to sit here for a long time and I don't blame them.

  5. Other than the bizarre "no laptops before 3pm" rule that they kept enforcing at 2:20pm, this place is awesome! Really well-ventilated, tons of space and outlets, and a super clean bathroom. The windows let in lots of light, which makes studying here during the day quite pleasant. They have a pretty standard selection of caffeinated drinks and their service is quite attentive and efficient. There is a $5 minimum per laptop. Great study spot – can't wait to come back!

  6. The Lazy Ibis has a big open space with free wifi if you want to come in and work. The seats are very comfortable and have cushions and more. The coffee is very good, and they can make just about everything. It also has an interesting atmosphere with old spinning machines, typewriters, globes, and more, but they do a good job of adding character to the space and not clutter.

  7. Iced coffee = yum yum yum.

Everything (or just about) on the brunch menu is served with a biscuit the size of both of your fists (except for things like what I ordered apparently).

We came in on a sweltering Sunday (no really, it had to have been 1,000 degrees outside). The place has a few ceiling fans and one poor air conditioner that was blowing all it could, but to little avail. With only one server working, it was a little while before we were told to "sit anywhere" despite the "please wait to be seated" sign. We squeezed next to a *blogger* camped out in the middle of a cluster of tables.

The service was a tad slow. It took a while to get menus, to place our order, to get our food, and to pay the check. Don't be in a hurry.

The food was good. I (being boring and slightly delusional from the heat) ordered the baked mac and four cheese. I think it needed some breadcrumbs too, but the bleu cheese crumbles kept it interesting enough. It didn't come with anything else, which I thought was a little odd (maybe a little salad?) Boyfriend ordered the egg scramble biscuit sandwich, which had a cute attempt at salad (several slices of steamed carrots and kale…how Brooklyn cliche).

Just be warned this isn't quite a brunch place–it's a coffee shop that also serves easy yogurt granola bowls and biscuits with a small combination of toppings (eggs, lox, veggies). Being new to the area, I was under the impression that this was a full on brunch place, and perhaps Yelp only had the partial menu posted. Nope. I may come back for the coffee, but not necessarily the food.

  8. I have no idea what's going on in this place. There's a sign to wait to be seated, but no one whose job it is to seat you. And, there's no menu out so you can see if you want to wait for seating…so you just stand there kind of baffled.

They really need to work on how to engage new customers.
