Le Barricou

“Le Barricou was definitely doing some business on Sunday morning (1:30 pm) and the 45 minute wait to be seated reflected that.”

“Great for a date, brunch with friends, or even alone (I used to go there a lot to write and drink wine by the fireplace in the winter time).”

“The theme is French but they make a mean Bloody Mary that includes chunks of veggies, green olives and fresh shrimp in a Mason jar.”

  1. Nice brunch spot in the eastern edge of Williamsburg. The French-influenced menu is clearly a hit among locals as evidenced by the crowds and wait time for weekend brunch. Like most other reviewers I highly recommend the duck hash. It was excellent. I also really liked the cocktail offerings as they venture beyond the usual mimosa and Bloody Mary's.

  2. This was my first time at this spot but it was so sweet and rustic. I ordered the pancakes, which were absolutely delicious and super filling! Should definitely be chosen if going to be shared. They tell you upon ordering that it will take about 45 minutes for the pancakes; well worth the wait! The wait staff we very nice and the prices were very reasonable. The mimosas were perfect and went nicely with the pancakes, which had berries and strawberry ice cream on top.

  3. Pâté Sandwich: Animal Activists, Sorry Not Sorry. lol This sandwich is loaded with Le Barricou's homemade duck liver mousse. Grainy mustard, cranberries & slivers of pickles cuts the richness of the pâté. MUST HAVE.

Duck Confit Hash: Fancy but not as mouth watering as I hoped it to be but still good. The duck flavor was subtle; I resorted to adding some ketchup to add a little sweetness. My sunny side up eggs were cooked a tad too long, I would've liked the yolk to be a bit more runny.

Pancakes: Carbs, your best friend before a night out. More than you can handle stacks of pancakes topped with their delicious strawberry butter and berries.

  4. 30 min wait for 4.5 people (baby) for Sunday brunch, I'll tk it!

Spinach and mushroom omelet was average, could of used more mushrooms and cheese and less spinach. Side salad overdressed, pommes frites were delicious but a little cold.  Hubby liked his duck confit hash and friend enjoyed his merguez with eggs. Brunch special frittata with asparagus, corn, and brie.

Now for the main event-baked pancakes.  They tk 30-45 mins so order them with your other dishes and they're a perfect dessert to share amongst 4. The outside is crisp and the inside is moist and fluffy. The strawberry butter and fruit def compliment it all, and syrup!

  5. For starters, I want to give this place a 3.5 but obviously cannot and when I was going to write this review I thought about what I wanted to give it and all I remembered from the experience was the piece of shit chairs in this place so I went with a 3 over a 4, sue me this is America!

I went with a group from out of town – there were 6 of us in total and they sat us in the coveted spot by the bathroom….not good!

The restaurant decor is pretty typical Williamsburg – tons of old crap made into something fancy made to look like it's cool. But…the chairs now I don't normally write things like this but it was baaaaaaad! They just sucked. They were uncomfortable, uneven, mismatched, and barely fit next to people and onto the tables. Sorry, I just really disliked this aspect of this place.

Food: Three people at our table ordered the apple frittata and they all seemed to enjoy this very much. There was a spinach and mushroom omelette that was ordered and looked pretty great as well. My husband and I both ordered the Croque Madame…it's a thing with us. It was delicious. I was very impressed with the meal but my only complaint would be is that they use the same bread for a few things (DUH) and my bread tasted almost like they started making french toast with it and realized it was a savory sandwich instead. The french fries were salty and crispy and pretty addicting. Oh, and you seem to get free refills on coffee..that's not normal here (but is EVERYWHERE else in America).

I would go back but would hopefully not get seated where we did as between that and the major attitude our waitress had made this a poor experience…the food though, yeah that's pretty good!

  6. Nice place, try to get seated in the back with more natural lighting and cute decor! We split the duck confit hash and the extremely large pancakes. The duck hash was cooked well, flavorful, left us both hungry, and then the huge pancakes came out. You should probably split these two large pancakes between 4 or 6 people or more. The pancakes are dense and very very filling. They're really well done, crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside, and the strawberry butter is delicious. However I can only eat so much of the same food so we ultimately had to toss half of it. Worth getting with a group! Also the bloody mary's looked really good, would like to try.

  7. The first time I saw a photo of the Shrimp Cocktail Bloody Mary, and those enormous pancakes,  I knew I had to go! My kind of place.

I came recently for brunch and really enjoyed my experience here. The decor is warm and sort of rustic. We sat at the bar, but the back seating area almost had a cabin-like vibe to it, only more well lit.  The bartender was friendly and helpful in terms of making decisions, which is always difficult for me… in this case, the french toast or those glorious looking pancakes. I had read good things about both.  I ended up with the french toast since we were only a party of two, but I couldn't have been happier with my choice. The FT is solid here, and definitely one of the better versions I have had in a while. Theirs is unique because it's almost crispy on the outside, and not overwhelmingly sweet or heavy on the cinnamon. I would liken the flavor to creme brulee. Super tasty. I have heard the pancakes are better to order when you are with a larger group so you can share it, since it's a lot to handle and takes a long time to bake. That will be on my list for next time.

My brunch buddy had the duck hash and that was really tasty as well. I can't forget a couple words about the Shrimp Cocktail Bloody Mary. It's a genius idea and was so delicious. Nice and spicy, just how I like it. Definitely get one if you're there.

  8. Came here on a Sunday for brunch and was surprised to see it wasnt packed. 25-30 min wait which wasnt bad at all.

Seated, ordered, and enjoyed our brunch. The duck plate (do not remember the name) is a MUST!!! It was duck meat served with potatoes and sunny side eggs ontop. So so so flavorful!!!

We also had the infamous pancakes, super big and fluffy (also takes longer to come out). It was crispy on the outside and soft/buttery on the inside. Wish they had more fruits and they served it with pink butter!?!

Overall great spot for brunch. We jus felt alil uncomfortable when one of the bus boys came 2-3x to ask if we were done yet.. We looked around and did not see any one else waitin for a table. So we just felt kind of rushed..
