This is a well known building in some TV shows and movies. De modelboat lake in front is a popular spot in the summer with the boates. So many people who love to come here
Cute spot! The food it self is nothing special — limited selection of bistro type foods, like sandwiches, salads, and quiche. I ordered the quiche and it was average. However, the ambiance is what sets this place apart! (and that it's a "reasonably" priced option in the middle of Central Park). They have mostly outdoor seating, making it a nice spot when the weather is nice. Also plenty of people come past, so it's wonderful for people watching. Only downside is that people bring their dogs there. I love dogs, but the table behind us had small, annoyingly yappy dogs that barked at every dog that passed by. They also let their dogs walk around off leash. I don't think that should be allowed in a place that serves food, not to mention it's a hazard if a server tripped over the dog!
However, it does seem like they close on the earlier side. Several people stopped by for dinner, but since Le Pain Quotidien's staff was in the process of closing, so potential customers were turned way. Some people noted that the service is slow — it sound like this is more for counter service. I thought that our server was pretty attentive for the sit-down service during dinner, but things were also pretty quiet at that time. He came around several times to check whether we were ready to order, checked-in on us once we got our food, and refilled our water. If you're one for ambiance, then this is a nice spot!
An outdoor cafe in Central Park by the lake! Trees, twittering birds, joggers, families, Tai chi practice– and you get a first row seat…with coffee and croissant! For what it is, it is perfect!
We wandered here on an early Saturday crisp late November morning and ordered a variety of simple breakfast items and coffees from the laid back kiosk. We then sat and munched and watched the leaves fall basically. The Croque Monsieur took a bit, but was piping hot and melty good! The others were more healthy and opted for yogurt parfaits that were deemed "fancy" with a little blackberry or two nestled in there.
We were surrounded by people, families and little birds and it was a nice place to start the day, surrounded by nature.
