  1. Adorable place with friendly service and delicious, healthy food. This was the perfect choice for me on my healthy, gluten-free diet but hearty and tasty enough for my husband too. He loved it just as much as I did! They make a great chai latte too.

  2. Le salbuen is a very small restaurant in Montclair that's prides itself on only serving ingredients that they know where they came from.  They also have a large assortment of gluten free and vegan options.

I went to this place after seeing it's great reviews on yelp and I must say it was a great choice.  I got the Balinese and my girlfriend got the lamb skillet.

The Balinese was INSANE. Absolutely amazed as to how good the meat was.  The pasta was fresh, but they could have cooked it slightly more because it was a little too al dente for me.

As for the lamb skillet, it came with only one lamb sausage and a bed of potatoes. Also it came with an egg and toast on the side.  The lamb sausage was out of this world and the potatoes were the best I've ever had!

I also got their homemade ginger beer and it could have used a little more sugar but overall a great drink.

I absolutely suggest going if you are in montclair

  3. Great little cafe! Came here with my parents for brunch. They had a great menu selection – it took me a while to decide. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too.

Loved the goat cheese here. We tried a bunch of different wraps and croissants. Everything was really good.

Place is really small and a bit cramped but I liked the ambiance nonetheless. Friendly service.

  4. Amazing amazing amazing! Came here on a Friday night around 6:30. Didn't know how crowded it would be and was so upset when the hostess stated we needed a reservation. After kindly stating we could takeout, she came back 2 minutes after we were looking at the menu to let us know we could sit for an hour at a small table that wasn't arriving until 7:30 – awesome!

Got a complimentary delicious vegan Avocado Mousse to start. My dinner was nothing short of delicious. It was a Brown Rice & Black Bean dish that was vegan and gluten free, perfect for me. I usually don't eat anything that I don't exactly know what everything on the dish is, but there was so much going on and knowing it was GF and VV I was fine with it all! Also atop the dish were two small patties made of black beans, quinoa and curry spice (think it's a mini version of their vegan burger) and it was so amazing I have to come back for the larger portion. Additionally topped with tofu, some sort of mash and a perfectly grilled plantain, peppers and onions and avocado.

I cannot wait to come back. The service and food was amazing. Every restaurant should follow their lead with GF, V and VV labeling. Also took vegan cookies and homemade cashew milk to go. Wasn't in love since I'm more of a chocolate dessert fan, but still worth a 5 star review!!

  5. Came here for brunch with a group of friends and had a good experience. Its BYOB and limited outdoor seating which we took advantage of.

I ordered the breakfast burrito. It was good, but nothing outstanding. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal for what it was. Service was decent.

  6. What a great gem! It's a tiny location, seats less than 30 from what I can gather but wow the food is top notch. Added bonus it's a BYOB.
Seeing the kitchen from our seat (like I said it's small) and attentive service were a nice touch. Best part, it's farm to table AND a lot of organic options.
    Food:
Croque Madame Empanada – organic egg, organic ham, valley shepherd nj gruyere cheese, vegan olive lemon aioli, organic petite salad. It was very good.
Organic Grass-Fed Dry Aged Beef Burger on Brioche Bun – shaved truffle, Kenneth Square PA mushrooms, shallots, capers, pickled purple cabbage, Valley Shepherd NJ gruyere, duck fat frites – Holy Sh*t it was outstanding…I mean life changing. The meat and the add on's were so fresh and delicious…probably one of the best burgers ever…
Grassfed Organic Braised Short Rib – Chianti tomato compote, pickled purple cabbage w/frites. A close second on their menu. Short rib was so tender and flavorful.
Loved the personalized service (husband/wife team).
If you go during busy time, be prepared to wait. Their breakfast menu looked superb. Will definitely be returning for breakfast.
    Terrific all around…ENJOY!

  7. 3 1/2 stars.

This is a cute little lunch spot, and they offer outdoor seating as well. Five of us attended brunch here outside and started drinking the water that was left on the table form the last party…oops! Didn't know it had not been cleared, yet. A waitress brought us new glasses and we were greeted by another man, who was our waiter. He was nice, but didn't seem to have a sense of humor or maybe was just tired. I asked him if he had any suggestions and he asked me what I was in the mood for and gave me several things to pick from, without a smile.

Our food came out promptly and it was hot to taste. Very delicious, but we all thought the serving sizes were a little small, for the prices we paid. Also, this place is BYOB, so don't count on ordering any mimosas or bloody Mary's (which I happened to be craving!). The food is fresh and some organic, and the coffee tasted fresh. I wasn't a fan of the lukewarm water that was served- would have been better ice cold in my opinion.

My husband ordered lamb sausage with egg and potato hash. He thought there was a lot of potato and came with only one link of sausage, which he was disappointed about. He thought it also could have used another egg. The view from where we sat was nice, though, and I would visit again.
