We stumbled across Lee Chi on a late Sunday afternoon/early evening, and there were quite a few tables seated so we popped in. The dishes we had were nothing short of amazing, their prices are so on point (not cheap, but very fair), they are conveniently located, and they are family-friendly as well.
For dinner, we had a full sampling of:
Chicken Satay, A+++
Beef Sticks, A
Veggie Dumplings, A
XLB Soup Dumplings, A (according to hubby as I don't eat pork)
Chicken Lo Mein, A
Lettuce Wraps, A
After the first bite of the chicken satay, hubby leaned across the table and asked me if I could learn the recipe. Lee Chi Restaurant, if you're reading this, I really would love to know how you make that chicken skewer so tender. And that sauce drizzled atop — OHMAGAH good. Needless to say, this is the must-order from the menu. The veggie dumplings really surprised me as most I've tried don't hold so much flavor. These have a thicker skin, and the filling is flavorful too. Lo Mein isn't something I usually order off a Chinese menu, but we happened to be in the mood for it, and it really hit the spot. The lettuce wraps were a great starter dish to whet the appetite.
The restaurant decor is classy, yet casual. We were very comfortable with it. You aren't required to get extremely dressed up, but they put thought into the look and feel of the restaurant. Of note also, the service is outstanding. This is the same kind of attention you'd get at the high end Madison Avenue restaurants (but minus the overpriced nonsense those other restaurants charge).
In retrospect, we really should give ourselves a pat on the back because this accidental dinner choice was phenomenal. We'll definitely be back in the future to try the other dishes (and reorder a few of the items above).
This is not your basic chinese restaurant with quick service and moderate prices and basic decor. This restaurant has none of those things, and if you're OK with that, you'll have a good meal. It is more like a cocktail bar hot spot that serves chinese themed dishes. We went here for lunch. It was empty; they may do better at night. The staff was very friendly, but the lunch menu was very limited and the food took a long time. The won ton soup was big and has really good wontons and broth. Very satisfying. The beef with broccoli was OK–didn't taste different than from any other place, I found it a bit plain. The Kung Pao chicken was really tasty and not too spicy. I would try some of their other dishes–not the Peking Duck which they rave about, I don;t really like that–but some of the chicken dishes and appetizers. Be good if they expanded their menu. It's at a location that's had several places quickly open then close. Every since the closing of Jasmine's, a neighborhood gem; I think her ghost is haunting all that come after it.
