My coworkers have been coming here 2-3 days a week, but why? I want to know what the rave is about so I tagged along. Spacious midtown Chinese restaurant that I'm pretty sure specializes in Szechuan cooking style. Service was quick, just like how a Chinese restaurant is suppose to be.
Their lunch specials includes a soup choice of hot and sour, egg drop or miso. So I ordered the hot and sour soup along with the Eggplant in Garlic Sauce. I was quite disappointed. The soup was not "hot" at all, it could definitely use more pepper but it did have a lot of tofu, mushrooms and vegetables. And then my lunch got worse, I mean it's not their fault, it's the style that I don't really like. The eggplant was very oily, like drenched in oil-oily. A bit on the sweet side, which tasted a bit odd, the skin of the eggplant was tough because they fried it before lightly saute-ing it. It was just a big no-no. I should've ordered the Mapo Tofu since that's the reason why my coworkers keep coming back.
Nonetheless, it's a nice spot, I just ordered the wrong thing. So, there you have it, avoid the eggplant.

Every so often I find myself checking the Foodspotting app to see who posts what at restaurants in my area. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it…Mapo tofu from Legend 55. It was in my head and not leaving until the dish itself touched my tastebuds. Holy sweet Buddha! I didn't really know what to expect with a dish like this but it is beyond flavorful and EXTREMELY spicy! I have a high tolerance for spicy food so for those of you who don't, this is your red flag warning. If I'm saying it's spicy, that means IT IS SPICY! I devoured the whole thing it was that good. I also ordered the age tofu (clearly it was a tofu kind of night despite me being a massive carnivore) and it was some of the best age tofu I've had, and I've had a lot.
The prices were incredibly reasonable too, this was a lot of food for under $15, and that's including tip for delivery! Sweet! The food also came with a side of white rice so the portions are enormous, great take-out spot for those with a big appetite and a small budget. When I placed my order, Seamless said it would take 30-45 minutes for delivery, they came in 20. Needless to say, I am quite the happy camper.
