  1. Leo's Bagel's menu is quite extensive, from the bagel selection to the cream cheese selection to the bagel sandwich selection. For lunch, I ordered a toasted garlic bagel with black forest ham and brie cheese ($10). The garlic bagel was quite tasty but also a bit dense and also tough after being toasted. Next time, I would opt for a non-toasted bagel. It was quite a bit of work to eat without being messy, primarily because the sandwich was extra wide due to the thick cuts of ham. Without any cream cheese, I found the sandwich to be on the dry end as well.

  2. Pretty standard bagel shop in FiDi. I like to come here and get a ham, egg and cheese on a sesame bagel – my morning favorite. I'd probably give this place a higher star count if it wasn't so overpriced. By NYU, I can get a breakfast sandwich for around $3. But here, it costs around $8. I can't really justify paying the high premium, because the food is pretty standard.

It's a good bagel shop to go to if you're already in the area. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to try it.

  3. There was a small line on a rainy Sunday morning. I ordered my classic everything bagel with egg, cheese and bacon ($7.35 after tax). The portion is huge! A nice crust and doughy inside. I also enjoyed the fluffy scrambled eggs, and the crispy bacon. A warm and filling bite is a heal on this cold rainy Sunday morning!

The prices are higher than most bagel shops I have been to, but the solid quality and huge portion help to justify it. The bagels are so good that you can enjoy them on their own, certainly a solid hangover breakfast choice too.

  4. Craving breakfast and in the Financial District – Leo's Bagels is by far one of your best options.  I am by no means a bagel purist, I love lots of stuff with my bagels, cream cheese, eggs, bacon/sausage and of course melty cheese.

My bagel of choice is always the everything bagel, it's the best bagel in the world.  My bagel sandwich creation is an everything bagel with chive cream cheese, egg, bacon and cheddar cheese.  Wow – this is a sandwich that will keep you full all day.  A little bit of everything all packed perfectly between a bagel.  I love it and when visiting NYC I always want one.  The vegetable cream cheese is also delicious here.

The lines can be long but they move fast and the bagel makers are quick like ninja's making each bagel combination to order.

Looking forward to my next trip to have another Jenn bagel creation!

  5. Really tasty fresh bagel and delicious lox. I am
Oh so glad we don't have this in San Francisco. It would be my downfall.

  6. Leo's Bagel's was an awesome find in FiDi. I was super stoked to find a legit bagel shop with-in walking distance from my office. But sadly the honeymoon phase only lasted 3 visits. Every time I ordered the same exact thing – and my price was different each time, with no explanation seeing as each time I asked – I just got rude stares and no real answers.

Don't get me wrong, the bagels are tasty – but this placed just rubbed me the wrong way. A great spot for a quick bite, but nothing to write home about.

  7. If you want Bagels in the Financial District, then Leo's is the ONLY place to go.

Now, they're not as good as Ess-A-Bagel, Murray's or Jumbo, but more along the lines of H&H, Tal, Zucker's or David's in terms of quality.

But, compared to all the other bagel options in FiDi, they're head and shoulders above the rest.

They have pretty good spread and cream cheese options as well as a decent selection of smoked fish (salmon, sturgeon & sable), and they're pretty fast on made-to-order items (scooping the bagels, double toasting, etc.).

The only two drawbacks of Leo's are:

    1. It's somewhat pricey for just a bagel & cream cheese – $4.30 to be exact.
    2. It's tiny, with only 4 barstools at a counter to sit at.

Besides that though, I really like Leo's and come every few weeks or so as I work in the area.

On a side note, I had a bagel sandwich once for lunch, but was just ok, in my opinion.  I'd stick to breakfast with Leo's.

So like I said, these are the Best Bagels in FiDi, so if you're looking for that, this is the place to come!

  8. I love bagels. There's no feeling like chowing down on a chewy, slightly crisp warm bagel concealing a mound of lox and cream cheese or bacon, eggs and cheese. You pay a hefty price for their sandwiches but they don't skimp out. Perfect proportions and the bagels are delicious. Its my biggest weakness. It's tempting to get one everyday as it's near work. My poor waistline.
