This place seems to be the spot for bagels in the Port Washington/Roslyn area. Packed with a line out the door on a Sunday, I had fairly high expectations. There is a large selection of bagels and spreads (think standard bagel shop), salads and other baked goods. The verdict? Fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced. Service was good and I can see why this place is a local favorite. Thumbs up.
I don't really agree with the top notch best bagel on long island comments.
The bagels were ok, but pricey.
It only gets the 3rd star because of its convenience and proximity to work.
The line is extremely disorderly to place an order, and if your not a favorite or every day customer they will skip right over you.
It also shouldn't take 15 minutes to get a toasted and buttered plain bagel.
Swung by when hitting my grandfather's house, knew it was an old family fave. Can totally understand why. Got there about 10:40am on a Saturday morning – big line but everyone was patient and pleasant. Breakfast sandwich – bacon, egg and cheese on sesame, not toasted – could not have been better. Perfect and delicious. Lunch bagel was strong – the chicken salad was maybe a little bland but otherwise it was good. Parents both enjoyed their sandwiches – Dad was particularly enthralled with the egg salad. All the pastries and cookies we got were great. The black and white cookie was fantastic. Rainbow cookies were okay. Rugelach couldn't have been better. Almond horn with chocolate on each end kicked butt. Coffee was great. Service was quick and friendly despite the crowd and got the order perfect. Bagels themselves couldn't have been better. Price was fine. Can't wait to go back. Thanks!
This is one of my favorite places. Last time I was here was like 10 years ago and it was the best back then. Went again today and the bagels are still spectacular. Nova and cream cheese on an everything bagel with capers and onions. The best. Highly recommended. Don't be slow about ordering and it's a little chaotic, but they will make whatever you want. This is truly what a New York bagel tastes like.
I gotta be honest..
This places seems to market it self as a top notch bagel place. I can't totally agree.
While they do have some interesting cream cheese options (for example "everything" creamcheese). the bagels just don't have that magic you find in a bagel from my absolute most favorite bagel shop "Hand Rolled Bagels" in New Hyde Park.
They're a bit too tough, and considering they should've been made in the morning, I find that unacceptable (unless of course they've been out since the day before!).
They do have a smoothie bar — wasn't impressed with the smoothie. It was a bit too tart for my taste and not enough milk added.
It's a bit too pricey IMO, but that's also due to the fact that it's in Port Washington.
This is a really great bagel store. It's hard to compare places on Long Island for bagels. I would say most places are ok but then you come by one store that you go to repeatedly. This is my spot– and I live walking distance to another shop! But really, the bagel and cream cheese options are delicious. These bagels are well made with a good bite and good seasoning. They are well-priced for most their items too. The bonus I guess to some other shops is that the inside of the store is pristine. I know some bagel shops just look like complete dumps but this one is quite the opposite. I'd say if you're in the area and looking for breakfast or lunch this should be your spot! You can even text your orders for quick pickup!
First time visiting after passing by many times.
$4.50 for an everything lagel with special lox spread, though that simply means $.50 for scallion in your spread.
A very good bagel, but lacking crunch on the crust, but a good amount of chew for the body of the bagel.
This is by far the worst bagel and black and white cookie I have had on Long Island. I was really disappointed when the went here because it had a lot of hype and let me down hard.
The bagel was hard and not soft on the inside and was very small for the price. In addition the black and white cookie and bagel both lacked flavor.
On top of the bad food the person who helped was the worst. I told her all at once what I wanted and repeated myself but she forgot which bagel I asked for, then forgot if I wanted cream cheese or butter, then forgot I wanted a cookie, then forgot I wanted coffee. Maybe she was having a bad day or was really forgetful but overall this bagel place was a bad experience and I would suggest people to go elsewhere.
Also the setup of this bagel place from ordering to receiving the food is very unorganized poor design you'll see if you ever go here.
