Small menu, small place, huge flavors, small prices, I'm a fan! House speciality is the cemita, an enormous sandwich as made in the Puebla state of Mexico: a slightly sweet & enormous sesame seed bun is stacked to ridiculous heights with meat (mine pork al pastor with pineapple), shredded cheese and sauce. So yummy, a total steal at $10, altho that includes no sides.
An order of fish tacos on the other hand was pedestrian, the chunks were battered & fried, there was no lime juice in the slaw on top, cannot recommend.
Better like sour cream if you order the nachos at Leyendas de Mexico, as prepared here it's an enormous plate of fresh chips generously covered with your choice of animal protein plus plenty of grated cheese, then heavily spritzed with the white stuff.
Free chips and salsa, the sauce had some heat and great flavor, doesn't seem to be any charge for a second basket of chips either, awesome. But that's also a bad thing, I've ruined far too many dinners by eating too many chips 🙂
Vegetarian rating: 2 stars, you can order queso with your chips or get veggie fajitas, but I didn't see any other promises of veg.
Bring your own but oddly enough the menu says "beer and wine only", does that mean doing tequila shots at the table would be a faux pas?
Lovingly decorated, be sure to admire the murals on the walls featuring Emiliano Zapata.
Found out about this place thanks to Groupon! I came here with my mother for dinner on a weekday and we both enjoyed our experience here. The interior of this restaurant is on the smaller side but it is very festive and colorful.
While trying to decide what to order (it was not easy, I wanted to order pretty much everything off the menu), our server came over with salsa and chips. We ended up ordering the Carne Azada and Tacos Tradicionales (Chorizo and Cecina). I thought both were very flavorful, authentic and the portions were pretty big. I enjoyed the Chorizo tacos more than the Cecina tacos since there was a lot more flavor to it and had a kick to it. But everything was delicious and we devoured it all.
The service was great and our waitress was very attentive. We did come on a weekday night so the restaurant was not busy at all, I'm not sure how it gets on the weekends but I hope it's busier because this place is pretty awesome and prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back to try more items.
