Really cool old-school 1970s vibe. Dimly lit but not too dim – perfect, actually! Beer is very cold, and reasonably priced (around $2-$3 a drink). Food is delicious – you will be pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to try the pizza next time we are through. Didn't have an appetite for a full-fledged meal because of a late lunch. Friendly staff – our bartender was a cool dude.
I am a big fan of dive bars! Rich the bartender is a friend of mine he brings me my drinks for free, yea I wish.
Big square bar with plenty of stools to belly up. Cold & clean drafts of domestic brew at $1.75 mug with specials as low as $1. Plenty of TV's for sporting events and lot's of dining tables. Surprisingly the foods is good for bar type food and priced well from $8 to $13 for lunch.
No eye candy and definitely an older dude joint but quite unpretentious and warm. Yes I'm adding it to my beer & shot round about town.
What a dive. I mean that in a good way. This place is a dive. I was back in NJ for a visit and had plans to meet a friend I hadn't seen in what I thought was a year, but turns out it was 2 years. Where does the time go? Apparently time stands still at the Liberty Tavern in Fords.
I got here earlier than my friend and found a seat at the bar. The space is pretty large, but there were customers. Monday nights there is poker in the back room and it was a busy one. I'm assuming it is always busy. Not so many people sitting in the bar side of the establishment as the bar is pretty large. Found a seat by the back side of the bar and ordered a beer. Not a great selection so Yuengling was my choice. Waited about 10 or 15 minutes for my friend and we moved over to the side.
Had a few more drinks and talked with the bartender for a bit. My friend lives just up the block and this seemed to be her regular spot. She seemed to know the bartender who was very friendly. The Liberty is apparently known for their pizza. Pretty cheap too. Plain pies can be had for around $10 with toppings an additional cost. My friend ordered a mushroom pie for her husband who couldn't join us. We ended up having a slice each at the bar and it was very good.
She and I polished off the pie at her house as her husband was asleep when we got back there. The crust got pretty limp in a short period of time, but overall it was good.
Cheap drinks and pretty good pizza. Not much more I could ask for from a bar.
I love this place been going here for years A good friend of mine brought me there a few years back to celebrate his birthday and him doing karaoke. lol. Food is awesome bar food. Kick butt fish sandwich and ribs. Bar tenders are awesome and keep em coming. I love the ambience can be a little sketchy sometimes depending on what night you go and what time. Some nights you get the "creepy old dude" nights and sometimes "bar hags/flies" that still think they're hot and in their 20's. All in all great place. Karaoke is pretty funny too.
This is your local older crowd bar. We came by on a Saturday night to find the square bar fairly well filled up with what we assumed was the regular crowd. Karaoke was being set up in the center of the square bar. Our waitress was quick and service was good. I originally ordered a PBR draft but it came out smelling funny, so the waitress exchanged it without question. We ordered food, Steak and Cheese and a BLT. Both were good.
