Here's the rundown on Limani:
[Pros:]
1. The service.
The waiters checked up on our table quite frequently, with genuine concern to make our experience the best possible. The servers are all comedians, so that's a definite plus. There's valet parking and a lady who hands you a paper towel after you've finished washing your hands in the ladies room.
2. The decor. Tall ceiling; white table cloth; sheer curtains. Clean; minimal.
3. The food. The attn to detail & wonderfully presented dishes.
[Cons:]
1. Yes, can get loud later on in the evening. But I feel that's a minor issue.
2. Pricey, which means I can't go as often as I'd like to.
My family and I ordered from the prix fixe early dinner menu ($40)
[Highlights:]
1. Patzaria (beets & hummus-like sauce)
2. Portobello mushrooms
3. Lamb Chops
^ I highly recommend these dishes.
After informing the waiter that it was my father's birthday, two of them came to our table with a lit candle stuck in his dessert and sang happy bday – the tune was a little off but their efforts were very cute.
After hearing the raving reviews about Limani I was excited about having my work dinner here. My coworker went on and on about the amazing seafood.
Prior to coming here I did some research and everything seemed to check out. I even went as far as choosing a meal I'd like to order on the night of the dinner.
Beautiful, aesthetically pleasing venue. The tower of fresh seafood and baked goods are quite mind blowing, but that's pretty much it. Once we were acquainted with the waiters and after things were all said and done, Limani lost me.
Once you remove the bells and whistles, the politeness, professionalism and get down to the nitty gritty the food was subpar. The food was never ending, albeit some wouldn't complain about the five courses I didn't enjoy any of it other than the garlic infused hummus and zucchini chips.
We were bombarded with a smorgasbord of different apps: Greek spreads, tomato salad, kolokahi, mushrooms, peppers, grilled octopus, and calamari.
For my entree I chose the salmon. It was very fresh, but lacked flavor. It came with a grilled lemon that couldn't save the fish if the lemon's life depended on it. Even the side of lemon potatoes were a miss.
For dessert we had a mix of baklava, kandopita, fresh fruit platter, and yogurt with honey.
Very expensive, but beautifully decorated. The food was very good and very fresh. I ordered lobster bisque, which wasn't that creamy so it was really good and I also had the grilled shrimp which was super tasty. I would definitely make the trip back here!
I usual take clients and guests to their Manhattan post in Rock Center, so figured this place can't be all that bad. Big plus about the Manhattan location is their lunch pre fixe priced under $40.
Menu is closely identical to the one in the city. The whole fish entrees are super fresh and always prepared as requested. The apps are an Ok size as well. Easy to please both carnivore and vegetarian friends here too. Wait staff is really slow and not attentive at all which is a bummer. If you get sat in the back of the restaurant it's like nomads land, we had to constantly ask a busser to get our waiter for us. The hostess booth is a total joke. They didn't keep track of my guest who arrived before me, when I arrived they checked me in, didn't tell me my guest arrived and sat me down at our table and my guest was left sitting at the bar for a good 20 min until I finally texted to see where they were. It wasn't even a busy night. Get it together people. The Valet staff is very efficient and friendly though.
Not a fan of LI restaurants charging Manhattan prices, no matter the neighborhood. Unless your a high end place, close to a lirr station or easily accessible by foot off the lirr then maybe be a bit higher than the norm suburbia prices, but pricing shouldn't be comparable to Manhattan.
Food was the minimally acceptable standard for a "nice" brunch buffet. Nothing stood out as very good, but neither was anything particularly bad. A whole lot of the options were uninteresting. The end result was food sufficient enough to push Limani (just barely) into the three star category.
There are a number of stations for brunch – chilled lobster & shrimp station, a small sushi station, a couple carving stations, a line of chafing dishes with breakfast items and a few lunch style entrees, pancakes & waffles station, a made-to-order omelet and pasta station, and a counter with various desserts, fruit, and some cheese.
The better choices here included the sushi (especially the spicy tuna) and the waffles (which we topped with cream). But I stress that these are the better of the available choices, not great choices.
Once upon a time, a man asked Conan the Barbarian this simple question – "What's Best in Life?"
No the answer isn't "to crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of their women".
It is "go check out the great Sunday brunch at Limani."
Every time I come here for the brunch, it's always packed. This place is a popular spot for special events and parties on Sundays and it shows. The standout of the brunch has to be the unlimited AYCE lobster. The spread is actually very impressive and a real sight to behold. Add some lemon, cocktail sauce and drawn butter to the mix and you have one hell of a great brunch.
But let's not forget the endless amounts of shrimp cocktail, hot entrees (from typical breakfast favorites to Greek dishes like moussaka) and a big carving station that will surely fill you up (though the meat there was quite dry). Add to that a sushi bar, an amazing spread of waffles, pancakes and french toast with fresh fruit and a big dessert section and you have the recipe for Sunday brunch heaven.
The cost isn't cheap but you get what you pay for here, along with excellent service and one happy belly.
This is an impressive Mediterranean restaurant that has an Island feel with white on white setting and a very roomy comfortable dining room. They offer high-quality seafood selections; the restaurant has a seafood-focused menu. This restaurant is very expensive, but worth the visit if you love fish dishes prepared with a Mediterranean flair.
Ate here with a Greek couple who are regulars at Limani. The manager and chef came to our table to say hello to them. The waiter was especially attentive to our table. Needless to say, the service was impeccable. I had fish, of course, especially after viewing the fresh options in the display. It was prepared well, deboned at the table, plated beautifully. The vegetables were outstanding. Dessert was also a home run!
Went another night with different friends and again, impeccable service and food. Will definitely be back.
