Love this place!! We easily spent $200 buying beef/shrimp/pork/chicken jerky to take back to Boston. The owner of the place is very sweet. Definitely will be back to get more during our next trip to NYC.
Try the shrimp jerky. One of my favs!
I have passed this store several times while in Chinatown. Finally, I had a chance to stop by to purchase a few pieces of jerky. The store sells a variety of jerky from beef, spicy beef, pork, spicy pork, chicken, etc. They sell by the 1/4 lb, 1/2 lb, or pound. Or you could just ask them for a piece of the jerky. I got spicy beef and spicy pork. The spicy pork is juicy and moist, but the spicy beef was more flavorful. I enjoyed them both. Will have to try the other flavorful next time I am in the area.
I believe this place is cash only.
What is this sorcery? These are amazing!! We came thinking it was regular ole' jerky, but I guess Malaysian jerky is very different! It's not at all dry. In fact, when you rip it apart with your fingers, it's quite sticky from the sugary coating. It's quite juicy and sweet, quite surprising because it is in fact meat. I feel like these should be stored in the fridge if you're going to bring them home.
The shop is a tiny hole in the wall place and it looks super family-owned. It's not a fancy place, but their jerky is a must-try!
Apparently good beef jerky is not available around Chicago, making it a nice gift to bring back from NYC. Ling Kee's is located a bit far from where I usually am in Chinatown, so I end up walking several blocks down canal to get there – I think it's worth it.
Ling Kee's is pretty good, a bit still on the chewy side but not overly tenderized. It's also got a nice smoky/grilled flavor to it which I don't recall Ping's having.
The owner is nice and I was offered some vacuum sealed jerky, which made traveling with it a lot easier.
Last FYI – cash only!
A Jerky that is nice! And delicious
This small little shop offers various flavored jerky in little squares and is a perfect little treat as you are walking around the neighborhood.
They have beef, spicy beef, chicken, shrimp etc and they all look and smell so good as you walk into the shop. It is a really small shop also and you can barely fit two people in there.
I got the regular beef flavored jerky which was a sweet syrupy BBQ flavor. It was incredibly delicious with every bite. The jerky was moist and not tough to bite at all and tasted extremely fresh.
The lady who worked the counter was so nice and friendly. This was over all a great experience and highly suggest people stop by if they are in the neighborhood.
In short:
– Delicious jerky
– friendly staff
Malaysian style beef jerky, chicken jerky and pork jerky! You could order it regular (non-spicy) or spicy. When I come here, I usually get 1/2 lbs of everything. It's like $10+ for half a pound, but it's so worth it! This is not your typical chewy, dry processed jerky that you can get from a supermarket or gas station. It's juicy, soft and roasted thin slices of meat that you would not be able to stop at just one slice. The owner here is very nice, she speaks Cantonese. Please make note that like most places in Chinatown, this place is CASH only.
It says Malaysia Beef Jerky on the facade, so it isn't rare to have people accidentally review a nearby establishment instead of this one. This is the actual best jerky in the world.
Cash only location with the best jerky – pork and beef. Nothing much to say other than "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" because I can't imagine jerky getting better than this. It's juicy, tender, spicy, sweet. So much flavor packed with that classic jerky texture.
Pro Tip: Do note that leaving it in your cupboard in an attempt to elongate your enjoyment does not work. Maybe it'll keep well if you refrigerate? Or, listen to your instincts and just pig out and eat all of it.
