This is a Seamless review! Now I didn't rate this a 5 because it's the best food I've ever eaten or anything, but it was fast, good portion, and tasty. I've had pretty bad luck with Seamless, and especially with Chinese food on Seamless. I ordered the General Tao's chicken combo with white rice and wonton soup. For $9 this met the $10 minimum after tax/tip. It was delivered in probably ten minutes which was 2-3x faster than anticipated. The food was hot and tasty and a good enough size portion for leftovers the next day.
Edit: tasted the wonton and had to bump this down to a 4 star because the wonton was a bit doughy so maybe not cooked the greatest? Will still try again!
Hi chinese foodicts! I know that sounds a lil dirty and sexist…anyways on to my review!
I have confirmed with my asian food ambassador GarGuPi L., and we unanimously conclude this to be a noteworthy establishment.
Note the A grade taped onto the window pane. As we all know no a pane, no gain. Hey I don't make the rules but eating here is definitely a delicious and healthy gain.
I ordered the jumbo shrimp curry and it came with alotta meat, onions and yellow curry. Tastes good so I like. It's really just that simple.
Gross. Luke warm chicken and broccoli. If you like chewy meat dishes, hit up this spot. Managers are also rude. Not a fan of this place.
BEST Chinese food in Midtown East! This was suggested by the doorman at my apartment. He was right! He mentioned that it was not all fancy and no real place to have a "sit down", but there are a few tables and the food was HOT and FLAVORFUL! I have also ordered delivery from them, fast, efficient service as well! A favorite!
This was such as satisfying delivery. It was getting late and I was getting lazy, so I ordered from this place which had decent reviews.
I did order a few items and ultimately it took a while (an hour) to get my food, but it was really good!
1. Beef with broccoli combo: For $9, this came with a half tray of this entree with pork fried rice (you can get white or brown rice too), and a soup (hot and sour is what I got). This is a great deal!
2. Dumplings (8): I got the boiled, and it was decent. It came with dumpling sauce. Actually the only reason I got this was because there was a $10 delivery minimum not including tip. However, I was glad I got it, because it complemented the meal well. Not too many places with good dumplings on the UES!
Came with two fortune cookies!
I'm relatively easy to please when it comes to Chinese takeout. I'm not expecting a gourmet meal, I'm not expecting authentic fare from any particular region of China, and I'm not expecting indulgent service. Low expectations save one from so much heartache! This is why my experiences at Lin's have been perfectly A-OK, as indicated by the 3-star rating.
On days when I'm tethered to my desk by immobilizing back-to-back conference calls, Lin's comes to my rescue with quick, cheap, filling, and tasty American-Chinese food. Delivery time has invariably been faithfully accurate to the estimate provided by Seamless. The food is hot, fresh, and tasty when it arrives, and the portion sizes are more than generous.
The chicken lo mein continues to be a safe choice. The lo mein noodles are stir-fried in a savory garlic sauce with pretty bounteous quantities of chicken and veggies (if carrots, onions and celery qualify as veggies).
The chow fun noodles (flat rice noodles) and mei fun noodles (thin noodles) are pretty good too.
Glad to be within their delivery radius for days when I am unable to go out for a meal.
I thought I had posted a review already–well, this place is great for takeout. I'll order by phone & then pick up. Or, if I'm home sick, I'll order some good soups, & food & have it delivered.
Here's what I've had, over the YEARS!!! Yes, years.
Egg roll
Cold Sesame Noodles
Wonton Soup
Singapore Chow Mai Fun
Roast Pork Lo Mein
House Special Lo Mein
Most dishes available in generous portion sizes; I usually get the Small, & it's a great size for one hungry person, or 2 -3 little kids.
HEALTHY Menu: (special separate menu on back of regular paper menu). Items cooked WITHOUT OIL OR CORNSTARCH-Steamed Chicken, with yummy, crunchy carrots & crunchy celery. A meal with no caloric guilt! Sauce on side. $7.50 (listed as "small", but very nice portion size!)
A few years ago, I did see a "scallion pancake" come out for customers who were sitting at tables inside & it was so odd, it had been deep fried with a deep fried crust on it, so, you would never know what it was. Customer was perplexed & pancake was comical looking–he wasn't thrilled. So, I have NEVER ordered a scallion pancake!! Lol. I was really surprised since everything I've ordered was delicious.
Yes, you can eat inside at tables; just place your order at counter. They do have LUNCH SPECIALS FROM 11am -4pm, price range Under $10, $7.50-$7.75)
and COMBO PLATTERS , good deals for $9.20, served w/choice of 3 types of rice, & soup OR egg roll OR soda "can only" (with actual soda inside lol)
Overall: DELICIOUS!!! Great prices, Friendly Service.
A while back, I had come in so often & always ordered the same thing, that the smart, very nice, lady behind counter, saw me & just told me my order, right after I said 'hello'. Smart, friendly folks work here. I really like this place. I'm just puzzled about that scallion pancake incident.
I highly recommend Lin's Gourmet on 2nd Ave, between 57-58 streets. It is a popular take out place, to be sure!
Sometimes, when I'm online at Whole Foods, 57th street, I will call Lin's & place my order, & swing by to pick it up, as I carry my Whole Foods items home, after a long, late day of work! Yep, that's right, I have done that! Lol. Sometimes, you are too tired & hungry to cook, & you just need to EAT FOOD NOW. Lin's service is fast, too.
Ordered Szechuan Beef and Chicken/Broccoli in Garlic Sauce. Not what I was expecting and the veggies were pretty bland and funky tasting.
