I noticed this cute little cafe one morning and was excited to check it out. I personally think it's a perfect location. Super convenient for me 🙂
I am not a big coffee or teabag tea drinker so I didn't order anything to drink. I got the melon prosciutto salad and I loved it. Great combination of sweet and savory. cantaloupe is used. I felt like there wasn't enough brie cheese in relation to the amount of melon and prosciutto.
Hopefully they expand the menu. It wasn't crowded or loud when I went so seems like a good spot to study or relax.
First Mr. Fong, now Little Chair…what next? (Hopefully not a cupcake shop, although a Chinatown outpost of Levain Bakery would renew my faith in Jesus). One thing is very clear, the neighborhood is changing. As a general rule, I hate change (especially when it comes to the homogenization of Manhattan (RIP Charlie Moms, Ray's Pizza, Cedar Tavern, Ratner's, etc). Two Bridges is a unique place; its grittiness reminds me of what the city felt like when I was too young to appreciate it. Nostalgia aside, after living in this neighborhood for about nine years, the truth is there are very few local shops that cater to the changing demographics. Little Chair opened today (6/10/16). The storefront looks like nothing else in the area (in a good way, they did a great job). The menu looks interesting and affordable. I met Andy, one of the owners, and he made me a delicious cold brewed iced coffee. He had no Sweet 'N Low, but promised he would get some (thank you). I look forward to trying the food. I think it is great that a mom-and-pop restaurant, like this, can exist here…for now.
I will definitely be back soon (and maybe, dust off my old Mark Gonzales board (Tracker trucks, Powell Peralta wheels) to show those Millennial punks at the skateboard park across the street how it's done.
