  1. Excellent lunch place, one of my favorites in the area. This is an Australian (or Australian inspired) coffee place, and while their cappucinos and flat whites look really good, I've only ever had the lunch sandwiches here.
Tried every lunch sandwich on the menu, and each and every one is really really good. My favorites include the braised short rib, the schnitzel and the cured ham. The ingredients they use in the sandwiches are fresh and flavorful, and the bread itself is wonderfully soft and crusty. The addition of a few little touches like the chili paste in the schnitzel or the cornichons in the ham sandwich really set them apart from other places. They also serve the brekkie items all day, so you can have an avocado smash or an omlette sandwich if you want something slightly smaller. Make this a regular go-to place if you're looking for lunch in the area!

  2. This is a rapid-fire review of their coffee.

Have been working in Midtown East for the past 4 and half year; needless to say, a quality dose of coffee goes a great long way.  Many coffee joints have come around in recent years with many bleeding quality over time, but Lil Collins has never changed and remains one of my favorites. A couple of things, in my opinion, that separate them from rest of the pack: the flavor of the roasted beans are consistently superb, which i suppose is a combination of barista skills, and quality of beans and machines; the frothed milk is actually of an enjoyable texture: heavy, creamy, and balances well with expresso base. Lastly, I actually prefer the smaller size of their cups – a Large here is a Tall in Sbucks. For the price conscious, they do lead the pack in price for a cup of coffee as well.

A quick comment on people who wish to dine here. LC isn't a large place even by NYC standard, more like a hole-in-the-wall. But, they've managed to squeeze in a few high tables next to the line of people trying to order and waiting. I frankly have never seen this place being not packed or a table being untaken during lunch and early afternoon. If you choose to eat here with your folks, just something to consider.

Artisan or not, for a place that i hop in, grab a coffee, and get on with the day, LC could not have served me better!

  3. "The Smash" was absolutely incredible. I stumbled into this place randomly as I was heading to an appointment nearby, I was intrigued by the simplicity and elegance of the decor inside, and I just wanted some coffee. The employees wore white shirts and black ties, smiled and truly provided an humbling experience, which you do not expect being in Midtown east in the fast-paced business environment surrounded by Starbucks on every corner.

The prices were very reasonable, "the Smash," which is this avocado and goat cheese smash, with chili pepper flakes and just a mash-up goodness was only $7.50, and it fully satisfied my appetite. The coffee quality is also excellent, you can taste the freshness in the beans. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

  4. Little Collins is easily my favorite take out option in Midtown East. I come here specifically for a few stand out items, though I'm sure the rest of the menu items are fantastic as well.

The Turkey Confit sandwich was my intro to LC. It is nothing short of amazing, probably not like any turkey sandwich you have ever had. I like their Avocado Smash for a lighter, healthier option. They mix some feta into theirs, which I really like.

Today I finally tried the famous Sweet Uncle Fred… Wow, just wow. Whoever concocted this glorious thing is brilliant. It's breakfast perfection.

The coffee here is very good and they have a nice selection of pastries. The staff is always friendly and helpful and I appreciate that their lines move quickly because the place is usually packed. I wouldn't recommend sitting down to eat here for that reason, but it's an excellent to-go option. I will say I have been a little underwhelmed by some of the salad options, but apart from that everything I have had has been solid!

  5. Super cute cafe!!! Must get their iced coffee and the pick me up sandwich.

The pick me up sandwich really hits the spot in the mornings with egg and scallions and tomatoes and a little bit of spicy-ness.

Sometimes the line can get a little crazy (lining up out the door!), I'd recommend getting the food to go since they don't have many tables inside, it'll be hard to snag one during busy hours.

Their staff is also super friendly and efficient with cleaning up the tables. Will definitely be back!

  6. I really love the smash here. It's 10 stars if that was possible. Best I've ever had. The avocado is perfectly balanced with the spices and the crunch of the seeds. The people here, not the servers, but the people they serve are often rude and entitled. The space is narrow and seating is limited so that makes those qualities come out of people even more. It takes a little to get the servers attention. I love that they give you a little graham cracker cookie animal with your coffee. So much to love in this little space. Wish they drew a different crowd.

  7. Unique comfy coffee shop in NYC. Named after a bustling street in Melbourne, this hole in the wall shop partnered with counter culture coffee offering great coffees and also serves good quality breakfasts/brunches but service was disappointing… One staff mistakenly took my order of ice tea as ice coffee although I repeated twice when I ordered. She seemed distracted and not very friendly. I was very disappointed because they brand themselves as friendly and homy – "where barista knows your name and remembers your favorite sandwich" place. I did not feel welcomed not to mention homy. Will not come back.

  8. Usually I am very bitter about overpriced sandwiches and avocado toast. It is just avocado on toast.

While I do admit that the avocado smash did not blow my mind (nor did the latte I had)….mind you, I did appreciate this place and will be definitely be coming back to try their other sandwiches.

    See my thoughts below:

-Avocado Smash: I really liked that they added feta, basil, lemon juice/pepper flakes and pumpkin seeds to spice things up. It did have a definitive taste that separates itself from certain other locations that just have avocado on toast. It is also not overpriced (only! 7.25)

-Big Dill: The salmon almost tasted like it was cooked on top of the eggs inside wheat bread. Very filling, delicious and savory with plenty of chives. It tasted healthy, but also hearty at the same time. Win.

The iced latte I had was good, but I can't judge the coffee here as I haven't had their signature(?) flat white.

I was eyeing the Schnitzel and the Turkey confit sandwiches and will definitely be frequenting for weekday lunches!
