Little Cupcake has a few locations around the city. I've generally had good experiences with each of them individually but I do think that this is my favorite one, although, I couldn't really say why. The selection is vast (and it's all very good), and I really enjoyed the coffee. The last thing I remember having was the whoopee pie and some ice cream and it was phenomenal. When you're in the neighborhood and you really have a sweet tooth, this is the spot. Nice siting area inside as well , right on the corner, perfect for people watching.
Just like their location in Manhattan, it was rather small, or skinny, with window showcases on your left and tables and chairs to your right. They have a bit of classic, antique look in the inside, from ceiling to the wall to the floor. I always thought they have a cute interior.
There are not many seating available, so it doesn't take much before it gets pretty busy. You might not always find a seat in here immediately.
The cheese cake is always good, and most of any other sweets they have are nice too. The service, well, the only sweetness you get from this cute little place is the desserts. Out of all the times I visited Little Cupcake Bakeshop in Manhattan and here in Brooklyn, I can say that the desserts are good, but don't expected any friendly smile, or warm service at either place. So this is really odd. I have been to their SoHo location and was throughly unimpressed. When I passed this while walking around Prospect Heights with my husband and I didn't put it together that this was another location of the same bakery until I came home and looked on Yelp at my old review. It was like this was a completely different bakery down the every last detail. First, when you walk in, it is far brighter inside than the SoHo location. That alone makes it seem much more welcoming and inviting. The cakes and cupcakes actually looked better than they did in the SoHo location. They looked less dry and looked very fresh. My husband and I ordered the smores blondie and the plain cheesecake. Unlike the cheesecake I got at the SoHo location, this was flavorful, creamy, rich, and delicious. It was not the absolute best cheesecake I've ever had but it is really good! The smores blondie was incredible. The chocolate used was clearly of a high quality and ratio of chocolate to marshmallow to blondie was perfect. I can't wait to go back and try some of the amazing looking slices of cake. This place was great!
Prices are what you would expect of a higher quality bakery. There is some seating inside. There is no WiFi. Would be a nice touch.
Soooo, yeah this place is a trap. I usually have a buffer that includes crossing a bridge for a good slice of German chocolate cake, which means I do not get to to have it often. But then here comes the Little Cupcake Bakeshop with the $6 slices and they have German chocolate cake. Who told them to bring that so close to me? Why would you test my willpower?? The cake may not be made by my nana, but it's sooo good.
So needless to say I frequent this place way to often (hence my new gym regimen or not eating anything else for the day). I have no idea what everything else taste like, but I'm thinking their other stuff is just as good.
Try it… and you may see me there one day!…LOL!
The smores bar was creative take on an American classic. It was rich and delicious. I'd be eager to try one of these fresh out of the oven or one of their renowned slices of cake.
Their other pastries looked delicious as well. The staff was friendly and nice. The bake shop was pretty spacious with five or so tables. I like that you can sit down and have a coffee whereas many bake shops and bakeries are takeout only.
Hubby and I took our giggly 6mo out for a family dessert outing Saturday evening and shared a cupcake in this adorable bakery. Plenty of seating inside, with smiling servers and customers. Their cupcakes are moist and delicious, with a frosting that's light and not overly sweet. We'll definitely be back!
It is true that we inhabit a post-cupcake moment. But Little Cupcake Bakeshop will make you fall in love all over again, especially the yellow cake with the vanilla frosting which can best be described as tasting like childhood. Added to it a genuinely friendly staff and very reasonable prices and you can understand why there's a steady stream of customers at this spot.
If you see my other reviews, I am no stranger to a cupcake. Though I have been, lately, a stranger to a good one.
A friend of ours brought these to our apartment as dessert to the meal we were cooking. He was our favorite guest of the evening. Every flavor was delicious – I sampled a bite from a few – I know one was the Hummingbird cake, and that was probably the favorite overall. All of the cakes were soft and flavorful, with just the right amount of frosting.
This is basically the type of cupcake Magnolia dreams about at night, but hasn't figured out how to actually make. No idea of the price or customer service as it was a gift, but it was beautifully packaged.
