I'm not familiar with Egyptian cuisine, but the menu looked similar to Greek food. (I hope I'm not offending anyone with the comparison.) I've walked by this florescent-lit store/restaurant many times before stepping in. Not the most appealing exterior. I thought it was a deli of some sort. Aesthetics aside, I like this place!
Walking in for the first time, I was greeted warmly. Letting them know it was my first time, they suggested the Grand Egyptian Platter. I was actually planning on ordering a platter or sampler of some sort, so they read my mind! While I waited, they brought me a small sampler of their desserts to try since it was my first time there. Let me tell you…I'm not huge on desserts, but everything was delicious! I tried to hold back and save dessert for later, but I just kept nibbling it down. Couldn't help it!
I thoroughly enjoyed my entrée too. Three types of kebabs and each one was well-seasoned and cooked just right: slightly charred and still moist. The rice was bomb! It's a bit pricier than what I would pay for, say…Greek food, but it was a huge, weighty platter. I could easily split this up into two or three meals.
