  1. Sweet little spot

    shaded seats

    Slow service

    Good peach sangria

    Perfect for an summer afternoon

  2. We enjoyed the outside "dining" area with the pulled pork and a porkslap pale ale. Surprisingly for the weekend for Governor's Island there was always a line of a few people. Grilled on the BBQ right there, it was great to have some good food outdoors on a nice afternoon.

  3. We had a work happy hour here while visiting Governors Island. Little Eva's was great to work with – they accommodated our last-minute party of 40ish. Plentiful nibbles and a nice selection of beers and wines including local varieties. Very low-key, chill space. Feels like you're in your own backyard!

  4. While I love packing a picnic to bring out to Governor's Island, I'm also really happy that the food options to purchase are getting better and more varied. Believe me, after biking and unicycling in the hot sun for a few hours today, Little Eva's white sangria and blueberry pie (with fresh whipped cream, no less) was absolute necessary.

  5. I'd give Little Eva's 3 1/2 stars. My husband and I had the lobster roll sandwich ($15), the mahi taco ($15), and the watermelon salad. There wasn't enough mahi in the fish taco, but the lobster roll and watermelon salad were surprisingly good.

The only "beer garden" on Governor's Island, Little Eva's is smaller than pictures reflect. On a Saturday afternoon it was packed so we could only find a bench (in their fenced in area) to eat our lunch at.

  6. It looks like a good option because of their cute seating area they call a "beer and wine garden" and little hut window, but beware! This place is overpriced and not good.

Got their mahi mahi tacos for $15 and got a huge tortilla with some black beans, mango, guac and a tiny piece of tasteless mahi. Everything was cold by the way. The only thing that was decent was the side of salad that was included. It was not much food for $15 and it was not a taco. More like a bunch of things thrown together and I had to use a fork.

  7. Arrived at Governor's Island around noon on a Sunday with a hungry party of 7. We walked through the food court but decided the ratio of decent menu items to length of line was best at Little Eva's, since we could walk right up and order.

I split the bratwurst and pulled pork sandwich with my fiance. The brat was greasy and had all the wrong flavor combinations. The cabbage with disgusting looking bacon on top was no match for what should be on it, sauerkraut. I dumped that part off. The pulled pork sandwich was more like hunks of pork, which made it very difficult to eat. There was no or little sauce, and it was pretty flavorless.

I ended up just taking a couple of bites of each and giving up on the whole ordeal. A lot of people seemed to be sitting there not eating or drinking, and just taking up precious table space. We mangled together 7 chairs from borrowing from folks, and someone brought us a *tiny* end table so we could rest our food on that. The ground is also super uneven, which means my chair almost turned over a couple times.

Next time I think I'll just wait in the long line for the BBQ.
